TL;DR: It is shown that critical injury in humans induces a genomic storm with simultaneous changes in expression of innate and adaptive immunity genes that alter the status of these genes in the immune system.
Human transcriptome array for high-throughput clinical studies
Weihong Xu,Junhee Seok,Michael N. Mindrinos,Anthony C. Schweitzer,Hui Jiang,Julie Wilhelmy,Tyson A. Clark,Karen Kapur,Yi Xing,Yi Xing,Malek Faham,John D. Storey,Lyle L. Moldawer,Ronald V. Maier,Ronald G. Tompkins,Wing Hung Wong,Ronald W. Davis,Wenzhong Xiao +17 more
TL;DR: The GG-H array allows comprehensive examination of gene expression and genome-wide identification of alternative splicing as well as detection of coding SNPs and noncoding transcripts, and is highly reproducible in estimating gene and exon abundance.

Mice are not men
H. Shaw Warren,Ronald G. Tompkins,Lyle L. Moldawer,Junhee Seok,Weihong Xu,Michael N. Mindrinos,Ronald V. Maier,Wenzhong Xiao,Ronald W. Davis +8 more
TL;DR: A vibrant discussion of the merits and limitations of animal models is long overdue, but the limitation of space precludes addressing many of the questionable approaches and statements by Takao and Miyakawa.

Development of a genomic metric that can be rapidly used to predict clinical outcome in severely injured trauma patients.
Alex G. Cuenca,Lori F. Gentile,M. Cecilia Lopez,Ricardo Ungaro,Huazhi Liu,Wenzhong Xiao,Junhee Seok,Michael N. Mindrinos,Darwin Ang,Tezcan Ozrazgat Baslanti,Azra Bihorac,Philip A. Efron,Joseph Cuschieri,H. Shaw Warren,Ronald G. Tompkins,Ronald V. Maier,Henry V. Baker,Lyle L. Moldawer +17 more
TL;DR: A rapid genomic composite score obtained in the first 24 hours after trauma can retrospectively identify trauma patients who are likely to develop complicated clinical trajectories and can be rapidly used to predict clinical outcomes.
Controllable generative adversarial network
Minhyeok Lee,Junhee Seok +1 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a controllable GAN (ControlGAN) structure is proposed, which separates a feature classifier from the discriminator, so that the classifier can be trained with data augmentation technique to make a fine classifier.
