Xiaotan Sanjie decoction attenuates tumor angiogenesis by manipulating Notch-1-regulated proliferation of gastric cancer stem-like cells
Bing Yan,Long Liu,Ying Zhao,Li-Juan Xiu,Da-Zhi Sun,Xuan Liu,Ye Lu,Jun Shi,Yin-Cheng Zhang,Yong-Jin Li,Xiaowei Wang,Yu-Qi Zhou,Shou-Han Feng,Can Lv,Pin-Kang Wei,Zhi-Feng Qin +15 more
TL;DR: CD44(+) GCSCs showed more cell proliferation and VEGF secretion than CD44-negative cells in vitro, which were accompanied by the high expression of Notch-1 and Hes1 and positively associated with tumor growth, and in vivo, XTSJ decoction inhibited tumor growth in a dose-dependent manner.

Dendrobine targeting JNK stress signaling to sensitize chemotoxicity of cisplatin against non-small cell lung cancer cells in vitro and in vivo.
Tian-He Song,Xiao-Xin Chen,Calvin Kai-Fai Lee,Stephen Cho Wing Sze,Yibin Feng,Zhijun Yang,Hai-Yong Chen,Sheng-Tao Li,Li-Yan Zhang,Gang Wei,Jun Shi,Kai Xu,Tzi Bun Ng,Ling-Ling Zhu,Kalin Yanbo Zhang +14 more
TL;DR: Combination treatment of dendrobine with cisplatin showed enhanced cytotoxicity through stimulation of JNK/p38 stress signaling pathways and, consequently, the induction of apoptosis involving pro-apoptotic proteins Bax and Bim, suggesting that the combination strategy deserves further investigation for human lung cancer treatment.

β -Elemene-Attenuated Tumor Angiogenesis by Targeting Notch-1 in Gastric Cancer Stem-Like Cells.
Bing Yan,Yu-Qi Zhou,Shou-Han Feng,Can Lv,Li-Juan Xiu,Ying-Cheng Zhang,Jun Shi,Yong-Jin Li,Pin-Kang Wei,Zhi-Feng Qin +9 more
TL;DR: It is reported that CD44+ gastric cancer stem-like cells (GCSCs) showed enhanced proliferation capacity compared to their CD44− counterparts, and this proliferation was accompanied by the high expression of Notch-1 (in vitro).
