Identification of Novel In Vivo Raf-1 Phosphorylation Sites Mediating Positive Feedback Raf-1 Regulation by Extracellular Signal-regulated Kinase
Vitaly Balan,Deborah T. Leicht,Jun Zhu,Karina Balan,Alexander Kaplun,Vinita Singh-Gupta,Jun Qin,Hong Ruan,Michael J. Comb,Guri Tzivion +9 more
TL;DR: This study describes the identification of new in vivo Raf-1 phosphorylation sites targeted by ERK and provides a novel mechanism for a positive feedback Raf-2 regulation, and its phosphopeptide composition is similar to that of the general Raf- 1 population.

Identification of Raf-1 S471 as a Novel Phosphorylation Site Critical for Raf-1 and B-Raf Kinase Activities and for MEK Binding
Jun Zhu,Vitaly Balan,Vitaly Balan,Agnieszka Bronisz,Karina Balan,Karina Balan,Hengrui Sun,Deborah T. Leicht,Zhijun Luo,Jun Qin,Joseph Avruch,Guri Tzivion,Guri Tzivion +12 more
TL;DR: It is shown that Raf-1 dephosphorylation, primarily at epidermal growth factor (EGF)-induced sites, abolishes Raf-2 kinase activity and points to the possibility that the V599E mutation activates B-Raf by mimicking a phosphorylation at the S578 site.
