Physiological functions of NAD- and NADP-linked malic enzymes in Escherichia coli
TL;DR: Results suggest that the NAD-en enzyme takes a role in the catabolism of malate, while the NADP-enzyme is in the supply of acetyl-CoA from malate via pyruvate.

Effects of thiamine and pyridoxine on the content and composition of sterols in Saccharomyces carlsbergensis 4228.
TL;DR: Analysis by gas-liquid chromatography of non-saponifiable lipids extracted from the cells revealed that the amounts of squalene, lanosterol and two unidentified sterols were higher than those in the control cells and that ergosterols and zymosterol, major sterols in thecontrol cells, were not present.

Quantitative aspects of free and esterified sterols in Saccharomyces cerevisiae under various conditions
TL;DR: For extraction of free and esterified sterols from yeast cells, a method was devised in which both forms of sterols were extracted with light petroleum after the treatment of the cells with acetone, and then with dimethylsulfoxide, where the content of sterol esters markedly increased with time.
