Nitric oxide modulates cardiovascular function in the rat by activating adenosine A2A receptors and inhibiting acetylcholine release in the rostral ventrolateral medulla
Meiyan Jiang,Jun Chen,Jin Wang,Fen Xiao,Huan-Huan Zhang,Cheng-Rong Zhang,Dongshu Du,Yin-Xiang Cao,Linlin Shen,Danian Zhu +9 more
TL;DR: It is hypothesized that central NO‐dependent sympathetic inhibition is mediated by activation of adenosine A2A receptors (A2AR) and inhibition of acetylcholine (ACh) release in the rostral ventrolateral medulla (RVLM).

Adenosine A(2A)R modulates cardiovascular function by activating ERK1/2 signal in the rostral ventrolateral medulla of acute myocardial ischemic rats.
Meiyan Jiang,Cheng-Rong Zhang,Jin Wang,Jun Chen,Chunmei Xia,Dongshu Du,Na Zhao,Yin-Xiang Cao,Linlin Shen,Danian Zhu +9 more
TL;DR: This study reveals that the activated A(2A)R in the RVLM underlies the depressor and bradycardiac responses in AMI rats via phosphorylation of ERK1/2 increasing.

The Effect of Orexin-A on Cardiac Dysfunction Mediated by NADPH Oxidase-Derived Superoxide Anion in Ventrolateral Medulla
Jun Chen,Jun Chen,Chunmei Xia,Jin Wang,Meiyan Jiang,Huan-Huan Zhang,Huan-Huan Zhang,Cheng-Rong Zhang,Min-Xia Zhu,Linlin Shen,Danian Zhu +10 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors showed that the central orexin-A (OXA) could be involved in the cardiovascular dysfunction of acute myocardial infarction (AMI) by releasing NAD(P)H oxidase-derived superoxide anion (O2−) generation in RVLM, AMI rat model established by ligating the left anterior descending (LAD) coronary artery to induce manifestation of cardiac dysfunction.

Differential expressions of nNOS and iNOS in the rostral ventrolateral medulla induced by electroacupuncture in acute myocardial ischemia rats.
Chunmei Xia,Jun Chen,Jin Wang,Ming-Xin Fan,Fen Xiao,Yin-Xiang Cao,Li Li,Linlin Shen,Danian Zhu +8 more
TL;DR: The results suggest that the curative effect of acupuncture on AMI is possibly attributable to the differential regulation of NOS/NO in the RVLM, leading to decreased sympathetic outflow and improvement of cardiac functions.

Protective effects of electroacupuncture on cardiac function in rats subjected to thoracic surgery trauma
Huan-Huan Zhang,Huan-Huan Zhang,Jun Chen,Chunmei Xia,Meiyan Jiang,Jin Wang,Yin-Xiang Cao,Linlin Shen,Meng-Ya Wang,Danian Zhu +9 more
TL;DR: Data indicate the protective effects of EA application on cardiac function in rats that have experienced surgery-induced stress and show that EA application at the Neiguan acupoints may produce its protective effects through the neurons in the PVN and the RVLM.
