Oxygen-deficient photostable Cu2O for enhanced visible light photocatalytic activity
Mandeep Singh,Deshetti Jampaiah,Ahmad Esmaielzadeh Kandjani,Ylias M. Sabri,Enrico Della Gaspera,Philipp Reineck,Martyna Judd,Julien Langley,Nicholas Cox,Joel van Embden,Edwin L. H. Mayes,Brant C. Gibson,Suresh K. Bhargava,Rajesh Ramanathan,Vipul Bansal +14 more
TL;DR: This study reports a simple method for the gram-scale synthesis of highly photostable Cu2O nanoparticles by the hydrolysis of a Cu(i)-triethylamine [Cu(i-TEA] complex at low temperature by using a suitable energy band structure.

Disubstituted Aminoanthraquinone-Based Photoinitiators for Free Radical Polymerization and Fast 3D Printing under Visible Light
Jing Zhang,K. Launay,Nicholas S. Hill,Di Zhu,Nicholas Cox,Julien Langley,Jacques Lalevée,Martina H. Stenzel,Michelle L. Coote,Pu Xiao,Pu Xiao +10 more
TL;DR: In this article, a series of photoinitiating systems consisting of disubstituted aminoanthraquinone derivatives (i.e., 1-amino-4-hydroxyanthraquone, 1,4-diamino-anthrasquinone, and 1,5-dimiaminoanthrasquone) and various additives (e.g., tertiary amine and phenacyl bromide) were described for free radical photopolymerization of various acrylate monomers.

Free Radical Generation from High-Frequency Electromechanical Dissociation of Pure Water
Amgad R. Rezk,Heba Ahmed,Tarra L Brain,Jasmine O. Castro,Ming K. Tan,Julien Langley,Nicholas Cox,Joydip Mondal,Wu Li,Muthupandian Ashokkumar,Leslie Y. Yeo +10 more
TL;DR: This work reveals a unique mechanism by which pure water can be dissociated to form free radicals without requiring catalysts, electrolytes or electrode contact by means of high frequency nanometer-amplitude electromechanical surface vibrations in the form of surface acoustic waves generated on a piezoelectric substrate.

Defect engineering for creating and enhancing bulk photovoltaic effect in centrosymmetric materials
Haoxin Mai,Teng Lu,Qingbo Sun,Julien Langley,Nicholas Cox,Felipe Kremer,Kylie R. Catchpole,Hua Chen,Zhiguo Yi,Terry J. Frankcombe,Yun Liu +10 more
TL;DR: In this article, a defect-modified homojunction structure is constructed to enhance the bulk photovoltaic (BPV) effect of conventional ferroelectric (FE) materials, which enables synergetic effects, e.g., enhanced light absorption, FE-like depolarization field and interfacial polarization.

Substituent Effects on Photoinitiation Ability of Monoaminoanthraquinone-Based Photoinitiating Systems for Free Radical Photopolymerization under LEDs.
Jing Zhang,Jacques Lalevée,Jacques Lalevée,Nicholas S. Hill,Jonathan Kiehl,Di Zhu,Nicholas Cox,Julien Langley,Martina H. Stenzel,Michelle L. Coote,Pu Xiao,Pu Xiao,Pu Xiao +12 more
TL;DR: Three monoamino-substituted anthraquinone derivatives (AAQs) incorporated with various additives are investigated for their roles as photoinitiating systems of free radical photopolymerization of (meth)acrylate monomers upon the exposure to UV to green LEDs.
