Atrial natriuretic peptides in plasma
Jens P. Goetze,Lasse H Hansen,Dijana Terzic,Nora E. Zois,Jakob Albrethsen,Annette Timm,Julie Smith,Ewa Soltysinska,Solvej Lippert,Ingrid Hunter +9 more
TL;DR: It is concluded that biochemical research into proANP-derived peptides is still worthy of attention and that new biological insight may change the authors' chemical perception of the markers.

Effects of chronic severe pulmonary regurgitation and percutaneous valve repair on right ventricular geometry and contractility assessed by tissue Doppler echocardiography.
Jesper Kjaergaard,Kasper Iversen,Niels Vejlstrup,Julie Smith,P. Bonhoeffer,Lars Søndergaard,Christian Hassager +6 more
TL;DR: Echocardiographic measures of RV contractility remained unchanged, despite significant RV remodeling following chronic PR and PPVR persistently induced significant recovery in the majority of the animals, which may imply that Tissue Doppler based measures of RP contractility may not be sufficiently sensitive to be a suitable adjunct to conventional echocardography in the follow‐up of patients with free PR in order to optimize timing of valve replacement.

Impacts of acute severe pulmonary regurgitation on right ventricular geometry and contractility assessed by tissue-Doppler echocardiography.
Jesper Kjaergaard,Kasper Iversen,Niels Vejlstrup,Julie Smith,P. Bonhoeffer,Lars Søndergaard,Christian Hassager +6 more
TL;DR: The RV seems to accommodate well to acute severe PR, and no changes in global or regional longitudinal contractility or deformation were observed despite significant changes in the cardiac chamber geometry.

Myocardial hypertrophy after pulmonary regurgitation and valve implantation in pigs.
Julie Smith,Jens P. Goetze,Lars Søndergaard,Jesper Kjaergaard,Kasper Iversen,Niels Vejlstrup,Christian Hassager,Claus B. Andersen +7 more
TL;DR: The RV does not completely recover after three months of PR with persistent myocardialhypertrophy one month after PPVI, and future studies should address whether RV chamber and cellular hypertrophy, without fibrosis or interventional scar tissue, may be substrate for arrhythmia.

Cardiac procholecystokinin expression during haemodynamic changes in the mammalian heart.
Jens P. Goetze,Jens P. Goetze,Jens P. Goetze,Ingrid Hunter,Nora E. Zois,Dijana Terzic,Nana Valeur,Lisbeth H. Olsen,Julie Smith,Peter Plomgaard,Lasse H Hansen,Jens F. Rehfeld,Louise Balling,Finn Gustafsson +13 more
TL;DR: The data shows that regional proCCK expression reflects haemodynamic changes in the mammalian heart and supports the notion that cardiac CCK expression resembles that of cardiac natriuretic peptides in atria, and suggests a distinct secretory pathway in ventricular cardiomyocytes.
