Intraoperative Laser Speckle Contrast Imaging For Real-Time Visualization of Cerebral Blood Flow in Cerebrovascular Surgery: Results From Pre-Clinical Studies
Antonella Mangraviti,Francesco Volpin,Jaepyeong Cha,Samantha I. Cunningham,Karan Raje,M. Jason Brooke,Henry Brem,Alessandro Olivi,Alessandro Olivi,Judy Huang,Betty Tyler,Abhishek Rege +11 more
TL;DR: The SurgeON™ system is introduced: a newly developed non-invasive modular tool which transmits high-resolution Laser Speckle Contrast Imaging (LSCI) directly onto the eyepiece of the surgical microscope, and it is found that direct-LSCi can produce greater information than ICG-VA and that continuous display of data is advantageous for performing immediate LSCI-guided adjustments in real time.
Utilization of the Navien distal intracranial catheter in 78 cases of anterior circulation aneurysm treatment with the Pipeline embolization device
TL;DR: The Navien intracranial catheter is an important component of the triaxial system for embolization of cerebral aneurysms with the PED and provides sufficient support for the microcatheter manipulations used during typical PED deployments.

Ultrarapid, Convection-Enhanced Intravascular Hypothermia A Feasibility Study in Nonhuman Primate Stroke
William J. Mack,Judy Huang,Christopher J. Winfree,Grace Kim,Marcelo Oppermann,John D. Dobak,Becky Inderbitzen,Steve A. Yon,Sulli Popilskis,Juan C. Lasheras,Robert R. Sciacca,David J. Pinsky,E. Sander Connolly +12 more
TL;DR: The data suggest that a brief episode of mild core hypothermia instituted at a clinically relevant time point can be achieved in primate stroke and that the intravascular cooling technique provides safe, rapid, and reproducible Hypothermia.

17β-estradiol attenuates breakdown of blood-brain barrier and hemorrhagic transformation induced by tissue plasminogen activator in cerebral ischemia.
TL;DR: Significant increases in neurological deficits, brain water content, and Evan's blue extravasation were increased in ovariectomized female Wistar rats treated with tPA and attenuated in rats receiving E2+tPA, suggesting a potential role for estrogen in thrombolytic treatment for ischemic stroke.

Accuracy of computed tomography angiography in the diagnosis of intracranial aneurysms.
Gustavo Pradilla,Robert T. Wicks,Uri Hadelsberg,Philippe Gailloud,Alexander L. Coon,Judy Huang,Rafael J. Tamargo +6 more
TL;DR: CTA is particularly inaccurate in aneurysms 5 mm or smaller and those in the ACoA region, and the CTA accuracy rate may be lower than previously reported.
