A Study on the Impact of a Sketch-based Tutoring System in Statics Instruction
Viswanathan,Josh Hurt,Tracy Hammond,Benjamin W. Caldwell,Kimberly Grau Talley,Julie S. Linsey +5 more
- 01 Jun 2020
TL;DR: In this paper, a sketch-based virtual tutoring system, named Mechanix, has been developed and implemented, which allows the students to sketch their freebody diagrams on a virtual interface and the process involved is very close to using a pencil and paper.
An Intelligent System to Analyze Sketched Solutions to Open-Ended Truss Problems
Matthew Runyon,Seth Polsley,Blake Williford,Sin-Ning Cindy Liu,Josh Hurt,Julie S. Linsey,Tracy Hammond +6 more
- 14 Apr 2021
TL;DR: In this article, an intelligent user interface is described to provide automated real-time feedback on hand-drawn free body diagrams that is capable of analyzing the internal forces of a sketched truss to evaluate open-ended design problems.
