TL;DR: This paper reviewed the most relevant empirical findings from research on self-change in problematic drug use, and analyzed the consequences of these findings for the current theoretical models in the field, and made some recommendations in relation to the implementation of drug-dependence programs that can help change both in those who recover naturally and those who require treatment.
