Sliding mode control for an active magnetic bearing system subject to base motion
TL;DR: In this article, an active magnetic bearing (AMB) system is used to levitate the elevation axis of an electro-optical sight mounted on a moving vehicle to increase robustness to model uncertainties and to reduce disturbance responses.

A new sensorless drive scheme for a BLDC motor based on the terminal voltage difference
Taeyeon Kim,Chung-Il Kim,Joon Lyou +2 more
- 01 Nov 2011
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors proposed a sensorless drive scheme for a brushless DC motor based on the terminal voltage difference, where the zero crossing point (ZCP) of the phase back electro-motive force (BEMF) corresponds to the commutation point of a BLDC motor accurately.

Evaluation of carbon nanotube probes in critical dimension atomic force microscopes
Jinho Choi,Jinho Choi,Byong Chon Park,Sang Jung Ahn,Dal-Hyun Kim,Joon Lyou,Ronald G. Dixson,Ndubuisi G. Orji,Joseph Fu,Theodore V. Vorburger +9 more
TL;DR: These CNTs are capable of scanning the profiles of these structures, including re-entrant sidewalls, but there remain important challenges to address, including tighter control of tip geometry and careful optimization of scan parameters and algorithms for using CNT tips.

An error compensation method for transfer alignment
You-Chol Lim,Joon Lyou +1 more
- 19 Aug 2001
TL;DR: In this article, an error compensation method is devised based on delay state augmentation and DCM partial matching to reduce effects of a ship's Y axis flexure, and the simulation results show that the present method is effective enough resulting in considerably less azimuth alignment errors.

Computed Torque Control of an aerospace craft using nonlinear inverse model and rotation matrix
Jong Tai Jang,Hyeon Cheol Gong,Joon Lyou +2 more
- 01 Oct 2015
TL;DR: In this paper, a nonlinear inverse model of a rigid body is used to calculate and feedforward the ideally desired torque and force in the scheme without linearizing the nonlinear model of the craft.
