Köppen, Thornthwaite and Camargo climate classifications for climatic zoning in the State of Paraná, Brazil
Lucas Eduardo de Oliveira Aparecido,Glauco de Souza Rolim,Jonathan Richetti,Paulo Sergio de Souza,Jerry Adriani Johann +4 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors performed the climatic characterization of the State of Parana using the methods proposed by Koppen and Geiger (1928), modified by Trewartha (1954) (KT), Thornthwaite (1948) (TH) and Camargo (1991) and modified by Maluf (2000) (CM), using data from the European Center for Medium-Range Weather Forecast (ECMWF) model.
Using phenology-based enhanced vegetation index and machine learning for soybean yield estimation in Paraná State, Brazil
Jonathan Richetti,Jasmeet Judge,Kenneth J. Boote,Jerry Adriani Johann,Miguel Angel Uribe-Opazo,Willyan Ronaldo Becker,Alex Paludo,Laíza Cavalcante De Albuquerque Silva +7 more
TL;DR: In this article, a methodology is developed for incorporating phenological information aligned with MODIS enhanced vegetation index (EVI) acquisition for each pixel and selecting the most significant predictors out of 36 predictors using feature selection.

A methods guideline for deep learning for tabular data in agriculture with a case study to forecast cereal yield
TL;DR: In this article , the authors provide guidelines for using DL techniques with a case study using different models/methods to forecast yields in cereals; some of the concepts presented here are also applicable to ML more broadly.

Mapping summer soybean and corn with remote sensing on Google Earth Engine cloud computing in Parana state – Brazil
Alex Paludo,Willyan Ronaldo Becker,Jonathan Richetti,Laíza Cavalcante De Albuquerque Silva,Jerry Adriani Johann +4 more
TL;DR: A method to map the two main crops in Paraná, one of the major Brazilian state producers, with a minimum global accuracy of 90% was found and ensures mapping quality when using Sentinel and/or Landsat imagery on the GEE platform.

Agricultural soybean and corn calendar based on moderate resolution satellite images for southern Brazil
Willyan Ronaldo Becker,Jonathan Richetti,Erivelto Mercante,Júlio César Dalla Mora Esquerdo,Carlos Antonio da Silva Junior,Alex Paludo,Jerry Adriani Johann +6 more
TL;DR: The results indicate that the majority soybean is sown during October and the DMVD occurs between the second ten-day period of December and the first ten- day period of January, while the HD of soybean varied greatly during the studied crop years, ranging from mid-February to late March.
