Technologies are disclosed herein for resource tagging, grouping and associated functionality. A resource tagging service allows resource tags to be created and associated with computing resources in a service provider network. The resource tags can be utilized to search, collect, filter, organize and otherwise manage computing resources in the service provider network having matching tags, and/or to perform other types of functionality. A resource groups service allows customers and/or other users of the service provider network to view and access collections of computing resources that share common resource tags and/or other attributes. Resource groups can also be evaluated in order to identify computing resources in a service provider network for which certain types of actions or other functionality is to be performed. Membership of resource groups can also be evaluated over time and inferences can be drawn from the membership and from operational information associated with the member computing resources.

Resource tagging and grouping

The purpose of the present invention is to provide a computer which is capable of increasing the number of I/O devices which connect to a PCI fabric which has predetermined specifications. This computer comprises: a storage unit which retains an I/O device list which is used to manage the allocation to a virtual machine which runs on the computer of an I/O device which is connected to the computer via a network; a virtual machine monitor which identifies the I/O device which is required for the operation of the virtual machine; and an I/O device manager which refers to the I/O device list and assesses whether the I/O device which has been identified by the virtual machine monitor is available to be allocated to the virtual machine, and if there is an I/O device available to be allocated to the virtual machine, allocates the I/O device to the virtual machine, and registers in the storage unit an identifier which is assigned to the I/O device on the basis of predetermined specifications, together with an identifier of the virtual machine.

One embodiment is directed to a method of managing hardware resources of a plurality of client nodes. The method includes providing a plan that indicates when to execute a plurality of applications and identifying one or more concurrent applications which are one or more of the plurality of applications that are scheduled to execute concurrently according to the plan. The method also includes determining which of the one or more concurrent applications to execute on which of a plurality of client nodes by maximizing a utility function that factors in aspects of each of one or more concurrent applications and the hardware resources of the plurality of client nodes. Respective client nodes of the plurality of client nodes are instructed to execute respective applications as determined.

Planned cloud resource management

A method of managing a plurality of client nodes in a network is disclosed. A plurality of domains is provided in the network, each domain isolating data from other domains. A plurality of applications is also provided, each application of the plurality of applications allowed to operate in one or more of the plurality of domains. Each of the plurality of client nodes is allowed to operate in one or more of the plurality of domains. The method includes assigning the plurality of applications to the plurality of client nodes, such that each application of the plurality of applications is assigned to a client node that is allowed to operate in a domain that the application is allowed to operate in.

The present invention provides a global resource distribution method and device. In the invention, the global resource specification restriction in the current global resource scheme is broken, the global resource ID distributed by the global main control board to the global resource is no longer synchronized to each single board, and a local resource ID having the mapping relation with the global resource ID is distributed at a downlink single board matching the global resource to allow the local resource to map the part of the global resource so as to greatly extend the global resource specification, avoid the defects caused by the global resource specification restriction and improve the product competitiveness.

Global resource distribution method and device

A method for managing a resource configuration of a heterogeneously managed computer system. During processing of a resource management request, retrieving a set of resource tags are retrieved. Each resource tag associates a local resource identifier that is assigned within a first configuration management domain with an index identifier that is assigned within a second configuration management naming domain. The retrieved tags are mutually associated utilizing the index identifiers to generating a system configuration map. The resource management request is compared with the system configuration map to identify target resources and corresponding target resource information. One or more resource queries are generated based on the identified target resource and corresponding target resource information.
