TL;DR: This paper examined the relationship between per capita GDP differences and bilateral intraindustry trade shares and found that the relationship is negative in OLS regressions but positive in fixed-effect regressions, and evidence is presented suggesting this is due to the presence of vertically differentiated trade.

Perfect Competition and Endogenous Comparitive Advantage
TL;DR: In this paper, a dynamic Ricardian model of international trade is proposed, in which relative differences in technology are endogenously determined by investments in innovation by competitive firms and the impact of these investments on trade patterns and the effect of trade patterns on rates of innovation and growth.
