Over the recent years, C2C (consumer-to-consumer) electronic market has increased rapidly, and has become the most active segment of e-markets today. Despite the growth and popularity of online auctions and especially of e-Bay, which has been considered to be one of the most profitable e-commerce companies, the online auction environment is risky and transactions are complex due to the fact that buyer and seller do not know each other and they are not familiar. Although many studies have examined the impact of e-service quality on customer satisfaction in B2C (business-to-consumer) or B2B (business-to-business) commerce, the literature is insufficient in the case of C2C commerce. However, a number of authors have conducted research in C2C and particularly in e-Bay but in all of the cases, data source from e-Bay’s feedback system was employed in order to investigate service quality issues. Nevertheless, in this study a field research was conducted in order to collect the necessary data and thus reducing possible bias. The purpose of this paper is to examine some determinants of satisfaction with service quality dimensions in the online auction environment. More specifically, this paper is examining the case of e-Bay, in order to have a better understanding of buyers’ satisfaction in this risky environment. The paper’s aim is accomplished through an empirical investigation of a sample of 2,099 buyers of e-Bay, examining buyers’ expectation and perception levels towards service quality of e-Bay. Gap analysis was first employed in order to identify users’ disconfirmation dimensions in the online auction market place. Some research hypotheses are formulated to find out whether these dimensions have a positive disconfirmation. In most of the cases a positive disconfirmation is tracked down. Secondly, factor analysis was utilized to identify broad determinants of e-Bay service quality. The pool of the initial items deduced to four factors. These factors are, to a degree, differentiated in the Greek environment from factors found in other studies. A second round of research hypotheses are formulated again to find out whether those factors are related to the users’ disconfirmation dimensions. Finally, a new theoretical model is proposed based on the above mentioned hypotheses.

Investigating customer satisfaction dimensions with service quality of online auctions: an empirical investigation of e-Bay

Online shopping has become the third most popular Internet activity after using e-mails and entertainment. An important type of online shopping is online consumer to consumer auction C2C where consumers are able to sell and buy directly online. Although C2C online auctions could be an opportunity to enhance e-commerce in developing countries, many internet users are not willing to use it. This research explores the factors that could lead to more users' intention to use C2C auction websites in Egypt as an example of the developing countries. A conceptual model is introduced based on the technology acceptance model which was tested via a survey. Findings indicate that the perceived usefulness of using C2C auction websites have a significant impact on users' intention to use C2C website. This should be supported with appropriate security measures that could lead to more trustable C2C auction websites.

Exploring the Factors Affecting the Intention to Use C2C Auction Websites in Egypt

The Internet has derived globalization among the people, different business institutes and lots more. Online Bidding System is a prominent solution to meet the expectations of online buyers and sellers where the products are often obtained at a reasonable price by both seller and buyer. The Online Bidding System is implemented via Live Auction where several bidders can bid at a point of time. These bidders can bid together over any product. In order to extract the highest bid from all received bids so as to update the current bidding amount on which further bidding process stands, a sorting is required. Although there are lots of sorting techniques like Quick Sort, Merge Sort etc. are available but all these algorithms takes large amount of time to derive the highest bid recursively. In paper we tried to present an improvised solution of sorting algorithm in the bidding process serving the implementation of a Live Auction. The extraction of the sorting algorithm is done by keeping in reference to the existing algorithms. This extracted algorithm is known as partial quicksort whose experimental results shows that it sorts the large amount of data in less execution time compared to other conventional sorting algorithms and further showing the working of Live Auction. Implementation of online bidding system with live auction using improvised sorting technique

Online sales method is significantly becoming a fast business. Specially, online auction and shopping website have also become rapidly growth and more and more suppliers and consumers are entering this market. Therefore, the factors influencing online consumers’ intention to purchase is the key factor determining how attractive them to purchase good and products with on online auction and shopping website. The study examines the factors influencing between online information system quality, online auction price, and online service quality toward online consumers’ intention to purchase in an online auction and shopping website in Thailand. The questionnaires were developed from many previous researches. The data was collected from 397 online consumers of Sanook.com. Pearson’s Correlation Coefficient Analysis and Multiple Regressions were used to test the hypotheses. 
The results of this study show that online information system quality has positive relationship to online consumers’ intention to purchase as hypothesized. Online auction price and online service quality also have the significant and positive relationship with online consumers’ intention to purchase. This study shows that the perception of online consumer about online information system quality, online auction price, and online service quality are almost equally important to influence their attraction. Moreover, among the three factors, online auction price is the most significant influence toward online consumers’ intention to purchase.

One way to examine this is to explore users’ satisfaction with auction websites. The current study extends past literature on user computing satisfaction to evaluate bidder satisfaction from the usage of online auction websites. A greater understanding of bidder satisfaction can facilitate the design of a customer-friendly user interface, thus increasing the effectiveness of auction websites and furthering the success of e-commerce applications and businesses.
