Active and adaptive photochromic fibers, textiles and membranes
John F. Rabolt,Andrea Bianco +1 more
- 14 Mar 2005
TL;DR: In this article, the authors describe a process to make a dyed fiber which has the steps of mixing a dye capable of changing color and a polymer into a solution at a temperature below the temperature at which the dye or polymer degrades to form a polymer dye solution and electrospinning said polymer dye to create a fiber wherein the dye penetrates more than the surface of the fiber.

Formation and characterization of self-assembled films of thiol-derivatized poly(dimethylsiloxane) on gold
Mei Wei Tsao,Karl Heinz Pfeifer,John F. Rabolt,David G. Castner,Lukas Häussling,Helmut Ringsdorf +5 more
TL;DR: In this article, a comparison of the calculated spectra with grazing incidence reflection IR data shows that the self-assembled PDMS backbone is predominantly aligned parallel to the surface, plausibly as a result of the chemisorption.

Apparatus and method for real-time IR spectroscopy
John F. Rabolt,Mei-Wei Tsao +1 more
- 01 Oct 2001
TL;DR: In this paper, an IR spectral information and chemical analysis of a sample in a sample containing functional groups is determined by using an IR source (310), a sampling accessory (330) for positioning the sample volume, an optically dispersive element (350), a focal plane array (FPA) arranged to detect the dispersed light beam, and a processor (380) and display (390) to control the FPA, and display an IR spectrograph.

An investigation of the conformational equilibrium of n‐butane in a solvent using Raman spectroscopy
TL;DR: The transgauche energy difference for n-butane dissolved in CH2Cl2 and in CCl4 has been measured by the method of Raman band intensities.

Simultaneous multi-beam planar array ir (pair) spectroscopy
Douglas L. Elmore,John F. Rabolt,Mei-Wei Tsao +2 more
- 01 Apr 2004
TL;DR: In this article, an IR spectral information and chemical analysis of the samples is determined by using one or more IR sources, sampling accessories for positioning the samples, optically dispersive elements, a focal plane array (FPA) arranged to detect the dispersed light beams, and a processor and display to control the FPA, and display an IR spectrograph.
