Stimulation of endothelial nitric oxide production by homocyst (e) ine
Gilbert R. Upchurch,Gilbert R. Upchurch,George N. Welch,Attila J. Fabian,Alessio Pigazzi,John F. Keaney,Joseph Loscalzo +6 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors showed that in the presence of an NO agonist, HCY increases RSNO production in a time and dose-dependent fashion that is reflected by an increase in eNOS activity and Nos 3 transcription.

Eight genetic loci associated with variation in lipoprotein-associated phospholipase A2 mass and activity and coronary heart disease: meta-analysis of genome-wide association studies from five community-based studies

TL;DR: Levels of Lp-PLA2 mass and activity were associated with PLA2G7, the gene coding for this protein, and Lipoprotein-associated phospholipase A2 activity was also strongly associated with genetic variants related to low-density lipoprotein cholesterol levels.

Methylene blue reverses endotoxin-induced hypotension.
John F. Keaney,Juan Carlos Puyana,S. Francis,J. Loscalzo,Jonathan S. Stamler,Joseph Loscalzo +5 more
TL;DR: Methylene blue restores normal arterial pressure in rabbits with septic shock and is associated with persistent elevation of intraplatelet cGMP levels and normalization of total plasma NO content, consistent with methylene blue-mediated inhibition of NO synthase and/or degradation of NO in this model.

Downstream targets and intracellular compartmentalization in Nox signaling.
TL;DR: This work reviews recent data that link cellular NADPH oxidase enzymes to ROS signaling, with a particular focus on the mechanism(s) involved in achieving signaling specificity.
Multiple Inflammatory Biomarkers in Relation to Cardiovascular Events and Mortality in the Community

TL;DR: Of 11 inflammatory biomarkers examined, tumor necrosis factor receptor II was related to cardiovascular disease and mortality in the Framingham Heart Study and the combination of TNFRII with C-reactive protein in relation to CVD and with interleukin-6 to mortality increased the predictive ability for total mortality but not for incident CVD.
