A method and system are disclosed for acquiring and transforming existing content (e.g., Hyper Text Markup Language HTML content) for display and execution on multiple platforms and architectures. In one embodiment, capture templates are created to harvest content from disparate content sources on multiple platforms. Data is extracted from the content from the disparate content sources using the created capture templates that drives extracting process. A standardized data stream is generated from the extracted data. The standardized data stream is provided for display on one or more different type of platforms.

Method and system for transforming content for execution on multiple platforms

A content delivery network has at least a first tier of servers. A content delivery method includes, at a first server in the first tier of servers, obtaining a request from a client for a resource. If the resource is available at the first server or at a peer of the first server, then the resource is served to the client from the first server. Otherwise, it is determined whether the resource is popular, and if the resource is determined to be popular, then the first server obtains the resource and the first server serves the resource to the client. If the resource is determined not to be popular, the client is directed to a second server, not in the first tier of servers, and the second server serves the resource to the client. The second server may be in a second tier of servers or it may be an origin server.

Method and system for managing and distributing digital media

The present invention provides a system for capture and instantaneous on-demand delivery of multimedia content over a communication network to a plurality of users. Incorporated into the system is a variety of advantageous features including dynamically mapped resource locator server with central control mechanism for the administration of communication channels, users access and activity, cross-platform peer-to-peer delivery-on-demand client and user programmable content capturing component. In the preferred embodiment, the multimedia information being delivered is high quality video and audio with the purpose of multi-user multimedia broadcasting and remote video monitoring over a packet switched network, such as the Internet. However, the multimedia information can also include images, text, keystrokes, user commands, computer files, data, or any other type of information that can be transmitted over any communication network.

A method of serving out video over a network of video servers includes evaluating a capacity of the network as a whole to serve out specific video items by establishing, for each video server in the network, an established ability of each server to serve out the specific items that are potentially servable from each video server. The method further includes using the established abilities of each video server to evaluate an overall capability of the network as whole to serve out each of the specific video items. The method also includes varying the overall capability to serve out at least a selected one of the specific video items in accordance with the overall capability of the network.

A system and method for supplying data to a user upon request are disclosed. The system and method include a redundant array of servers, e.g., media servers, commerce servers, and web servers, that isolate the public network from the private network. The array of servers includes a plurality of individual media servers, and a user database in data communication with an Internet service exchange server hub. A metaswitch is operatively associated with the Internet service exchange server hub and the redundant array of media servers, and is programmed to determine which of the individual media servers will supply data files to the user upon request based upon preprogrammed determination criteria. In a preferred embodiment, the metaswitch determines which of the media servers will supply the data files to the user based upon the first of the media servers to respond to a polling request from the metaswitch. The method and system of the disclosure may also advantageously include a distributor, a static redirector, a log analyzer and/or a metacache unit for managing file storage and access. The method and system of the present disclosure provide improved data transmission, e.g., delivery of multimedia files to users.
