Liver Ultrastructure in Abetalipoproteinemia: Evolution of Micronodular Cirrhosis
TL;DR: Because of the destructive but asymptomatic lesion in this infant’s liver, liver function should be carefully investigated in all children with abetalipoproteinemia and chemical signs of liver dysfunction persist, particularly if diet manipulation is contemplated.

Small intestinal mucosa in cholesterol ester storage disease. A light and electron microscope study.
TL;DR: Since serum lipoproteins are normal, a block in the transport of cholesterol across the lacteal not dependent upon the plasma lipoprotein system is postulated.

Bile acid malabsorption in infantile diarrhea
TL;DR: Ileal function (Schilling test + IF) was grossly abnormal in 2 IR and both ID patients, and the cause of BAM in ID may be due to diffuse ileal disease or to a specific bile acid transport defect.
Micronodular cirrhosis in abetalipoproteinemia: possible exacerbation by medium chain triglyceride (mct) feeding
TL;DR: Electron microscopical and lipid histochemical studies have been made of liver biopsies from 3 abetalipoproteinemic (AB-LP) and 2 hypoB-LP children, finding the alcoholic hyalin appeared in hepatocytes after MCT treatment was speculated to be related to accumulation of acetate from MCT-fatty acids in the face of defective TG secretion.
