An electro-mechanical surgical device, system and/or method may include a housing, at least two opposing jaw, and at least one electrical contact associated with at least one of the jaws. The electrical contact may include at least one of a bipolar electrical contact and an ultrasonic electrical contact. The electrical contact may be a row of electrodes located on one or all of the jaws. A sensor may also be associated with any tissue located between the jaws to sense and report the temperature of that tissue. A piercable ampulla containing fluid may also be placed on at least one of the jaws so that the fluid is releasable when the jaws are in closed position and the electrode(s) pass through the tissue into the piercable ampulla.

Bipolar or ultrasonic surgical device

A surgical imaging device includes at least one light source for illuminating an object, at least two image sensors configured to generate image data corresponding to the object in the form of an image frame, and a video processor configured to receive from each image sensor the image data corresponding to the image frames and to process the image data so as to generate a composite image. The video processor may be configured to normalize, stabilize, orient and/or stitch the image data received from each image sensor so as to generate the composite image. Preferably, the video processor stitches the image data received from each image sensor by processing a portion of image data received from one image sensor that overlaps with a portion of image data received from another image sensor. Alternatively, the surgical device may be, e.g., a circular stapler, that includes a first part, e.g., a DLU portion, having an image sensor a second part, e.g., an anvil portion, that is moveable relative to the first @0rt. The second @0rt includes an arrangement, e.g., a bore extending therethrough, for conveying the image to the image sensor. The arrangement enables the image to be received by the image sensor without removing the surgical device from the surgical site.

Surgical imaging device

A surgical imaging device is provided, including a housing configured to couple to an outer surface of a surgical device and an image capture arrangement configured to generate image data; the surgical imaging device may also include a circuit arrangement disposed within the housing and electrically coupled to the camera arrangement, in which the circuit arrangement is configured to communicate the image data to at least one remote device

Devices, systems, and methods treat cosmetic defects, and often apply cooling with at least one tissue-penetrating probe inserted through of the skin of a patient. Some embodiments may remodel subcutaneous adipose tissue so as to alter a shape or appearance of the skin surface.

A seif-contained surgical, e.g., endoscope, system. The surgical, e.g., endoscope, system may include a sterilizable shaft having a light source and/or an image capture device mounted at the distal end of the shaft or connected to the distal end of the shaft by fiber optics. The light source is a light emitting diode or an array of light emitting diodes, and may have its own power source located at the distal end of the shaft. The shaft includes a working channel, an irrigation/aspiration channel, and an electric cable. The shaft is coupled at its proximal end to a control module having a video processor and an integrally-mounted display screen for displaying image data from the image capture device. The control module may also include an irrigation/aspiration system, a control unit, and a controller. The control module is coupled to a power module. The power module includes steering motors connected to steering cables in the shaft. In addition, the power module includes drive motors and a power source.

Self-contained sterilizable surgical system

Sound energy of a proximally arranged sound source 30 and laser radiation of a therapeutic laser 17 are simultaneously transmitted with an endoscopic instrument via flexible waveguides 3 into the body interior. The sound energy is in a power and frequency range adequate for the cutting tissue 16 and the therapeutic laser 7 operates preferably in the near infrared. The waveguides are quartz glass fibers 3 which can transmit sound energy as well as also light energy.

Method and arrangement for invasive or endoscopic therapy by utilizing ultrasound and laser

The therapeutic instrument includes a conductor through which sound or light energy is transmitted to the distal end of the instrument. The intensity and the frequency of the sound produced from the ultrasonic source (22) is so selected, that it is adequate for the cutting of tissue. The ultrasonic power transmitted to the distal end amounts to at least 5 watt and its frequency is less than 1 MHz, pref. between 30 and 200 kHz. The intensity and the frequency of sound produced by the source (33) or from a separate second ultrasonic source, is so selectable, that it is suitable for diagnosing tissue damage. The dia. of the wave-conductor is larger than 0.05 mm or smaller than 0.1 mm. USE/ADVANTAGE - Neurosurgery. Quartz glass fibre wave conductors can transport sound energy as well as light energy. Ultrasonic energy and laser energy can be used simultaneously or during same treatment operation inside body of patient.

Invasive-endoscopic therapy instrument with duct for simultaneous transmission of ultrasound and laser radiation - has at least one wave conductor for transmission of sonic energy of proximal ultrasonic source and transmission of light energy from proximal laser radiation source

Described is an endoscopic instrument which transmits simultaneously acoustic energy from a proximal source (30) and laser radiation from a laser-therapy laser (17) through flexible waveguides (3) into the interior of the body. The power and frequency of the acoustic energy lie in a band sufficient to cut tissue (16) and the therapy laser (7) operates preferably in the near infra-red. The waveguides are quartz-glass fibres (3) which can convey both acoustic and light energy.
