Epstein-Barr virus-induced diseases in boys with the X-linked lymphoproliferative syndrome (XLP): update on studies of the registry.
David T. Purtilo,Kiyoshi Sakamoto,Vanessa M. Barnabei,Janet Seeley,Thomas Bechtold,Geraldine Rogers,Joanne Yetz,Shinji Harada,Izet Berkel,Carter D. Brooks,George Bucchanan,Robert T. Collins,Frank G. Cruzi,Gerald Z. Finkelstein,Anders Glomstein,J. Greally,Margaret Grunet,Gertrude Henle,Werner Henle,Elvin Kaplan,George Klein,Martin R. Klemperer,Benjamin H. Landing,Sevre Lie,Robert Maier,Helen S. Maurer,Michael Medici,Hans D. Ochs,Lauren M. Pachman,Paul K. Pattengale,Gary R. Pearson,Arthur J. Provisor,Gordon F. Vawter +32 more
TL;DR: Results of immunologic and virologic studies of 15 survivors revealed combined variable immunodeficiency and deficient antibody responses to EBV-specific antigens and mothers of boys with XLP exhibited abnormally elevated titers of antibodies of EBV.

Epstein-Barr virus in normal pregnant women.
Kiyoshi Sakamoto,Kiyoshi Sakamoto,J. Greally,Robert F. Gilfillan,Julianne Sexton,Vanessa Barnabei,Joanne Yetz,Joanne Yetz,Thomas Bechtold,Thomas Bechtold,Janet K. Seeley,Janet K. Seeley,Eamon O'dwyer,David T. Purtilo,David T. Purtilo +14 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors found that acquired immune suppression accompanying normal pregnancy may be associated with reactivation of Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) reactivation, and that pregnant women with reactivated EBV having anti-EA antibodies show high titers of antiviral capsid antigen (VCA) geometric mean titers (GMT) of 522 versus 170 in those lacking anti-early antigen (EA).

Delayed Onset of Infectious Mononucleosis Associated with Acquired Agammaglobulinemia and Red Cell Aplasia
David T. Purtilo,Leo Zelkowitz,Shinji Harada,Carter D. Brooks,Thomas Bechtold,Helen Lipscomb,Joanne Yetz,Geraldine Rogers +7 more
TL;DR: Epstein-Barr virus acting as a slow virus probably induced the red cell aplasia and agammaglobulinemia because of the aberrant immune responses to Epstein-B Barr virus.

Fatal Epstein-Barr virus-induced lymphoproliferation complicating acute lymphoblastic leukemia
Christian Hardy,James H. Feusner,Shinji Harada,Warren G. Sanger,Barbara Von Schmidt,Joanne Yetz,Ari K. Saemundsen,Evelyn T. Lennette,James Linder,Janet Seeley,Bertram H. Lubin,David T. Purtilo +11 more
TL;DR: Chez un enfant de 5 ans 1-2 atteint d'une leucemie aigue lymphoblastique, en remission depuis un an apres traitement, apparition d'un mononucleose infectieuse avec evolution fatale en 4 mois.
23
Epstein-barr virus and chronic lymphadenomegaly in male homosexuals with acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (aids)
Helen Lipscomb,Eiji Tatsumi,Shinji Harada,Joanne Yetz,John S. Davis,Thomas Bechtold,David J. Volsky,Charles A. Kuszynski,David T. Purtilo,Joseph Sonnabend,Joyce Wallace,Kenneth L. McClain,Craig E. Metroka,Raymond R. Tubbs +13 more
TL;DR: The detection of a t(8;14) transposition in the monoclonal mu kappa Burkitt-like lymphoma containing EBV genome supports the view that cytogenetic transposition is a mechanism in lymphomagenesis.
