Browsers, grazers or mix-feeders? Study of the diet of extinct Pleistocene Eurasian forest rhinoceros Stephanorhinus kirchbergensis (Jäger, 1839) and woolly rhinoceros Coelodonta antiquitatis (Blumenbach, 1799)
Krzysztof Stefaniak,Renata Stachowicz-Rybka,Ryszard K. Borówka,Anna Hrynowiecka,Artur Sobczyk,Magdalena Moskal-del Hoyo,Adam Kotowski,Dariusz Nowakowski,Maciej T. Krajcarz,Emmanuel M.E. Shpansky,Małgorzata Lempart,Bartosz Wach,Monika Niska,Jan van der Made,Krzysztof Stachowicz,Joanna Lenarczyk,Jolanta Piątek,Oleksandr Kovalchuk,Oleksandr Kovalchuk +26 more
TL;DR: The results indicate that the woolly rhinoceros in both Europe and Asia (Siberia) was mainly a grazer, although at different times of the year and depending on the region its diet was also supplemented by leaves of shrubs and trees.

Effect of culture medium on the growth of microscopic algae (Chlorophyceae) biomass showing biosorption potential: A case study Pseudopediastrum boryanum
TL;DR: The present results are the effect of bioprospecting of an appropriate medium, which could optimize the quality and quantity of the microalga Pseudopiediastrum boryanum var.

Some rare and interesting green algae (Chlorophyta) from subalpine Tatra lakes (High Tatra Mountains, Poland)
Joanna Lenarczyk,P. M. Tsarenko +1 more
TL;DR: Five green algal taxa rarely occurring in the world were found in subalpine lakes of the High Tatra Mountains in Poland and a review of their distribution in the World is presented.
Palaeoecological implications of the subfossil Pediastrum argentinense-type in Europe
Joanna Lenarczyk,Piotr Kołaczek,Vlasta Jankovská,Falko Turner,Monika Karpińska-Kołaczek,Monika Karpińska-Kołaczek,Roberta Pini,Anna Pędziszewska,Marcelina Zimny,Normunds Stivrins,Normunds Stivrins,Artur Szymczyk +11 more
TL;DR: This taxon was found in sections spanning the entire Late Glacial and Holocene periods across Central Europe and its affinity to sediments originating in shallow and strongly overgrown water bodies makes it a good indicator of such conditions in past environments.

Phenotypic plasticity of wall ultrastructure in the green alga Pediastrum s.l. (Chlorophyta, Sphaeropleales)
Joanna Lenarczyk,Konrad Wołowski +1 more
TL;DR: The use of wall ultrastructure to reconcile traditional and modern taxonomical systems with regard to Pediastrum varieties is considered, and the phylogenetic relationships between strains representing different varieties are addressed.
