Embodiments of the present invention relate to article comprising 1) a functionalized component, 2) tackifier, and 3) an olefin polymer comprising one or more C3 to C40 olefins, optionally one or more diolefins, and less than 5 mole % of ethylene having a Dot T-Peel of 1 Newton or more, a branching index (g′) of 0.95 or less measured at the Mz of the polymer; and an Mw of 100,000 or less; where the functional component is selected from the group consisting of functionalized polymers, functionalized oligomers and beta nucleating agents; and where the Gardner color of the adhesive does not change by more than 7 Gardner units when the adhesive has been heat aged at 180° C. for 48 hours as compared to the Gardner color of the unaged composition.

A balloon for a dilatation catheter is formed to define relatively thin cone and neck segments at the opposite ends of the balloon by forming the balloon in a plurality of separate very thin layers. The balloon is built up from a plurality of layers including an inner layer which defines a complete balloon having a cylindrical midportion, cones at its ends and necks at the ends of the cones. Each successive outer layer is trimmed to be shorter than the next adjacent innermost layer, the trimming being effected in the region of the cones. The composite balloon thus formed has a staggered wall thickness in the region of the cones as to define a cone that is approximately uniform in wall thickness in a direction extending toward the neck region. The resulting balloon will be better adapted to collapse to a low profile about the catheter shaft on which it is mounted.

A transparent multi-layer container comprising a co-extrudate of an oxygen-barrier resin layer and an orienting resin layer which is monoaxially or biaxially oriented is disclosed. This process comprises (1) a decomposition reaction step where the pulverized products of spent polyethylene terephthalate are continuously subjected to decomposition reaction in ethylene glycol in the presence of alkali, which is equimolar or excessmolar relative to the polyethylene terephthalate, so that salt of terephthalic acid and ethylene glycol can be continuously obtained; (2) a solid-liquid separation, dissolution, impurities-removing step where the ethylene glycol is separated from decomposition reaction slurry of salt of terephthalic acid and ethylene glycol, and the solid salt of terephthalic acid is dissolved into water, while insoluble impurities are removed; (3) a neutralization, crystallization step, where solution of said salt of terephthalic acid is neutralized with acid so that terephthalic acid can be crystallized; (4) a solid-liquid separation, washing step where slurry of terephthalic acid crystals is subjected to solid-liquid separation so that the terephthalic acid crystals can be obtained and washed; and (5) a drying, pulverization step where the washed terephthalic acid crystals are dried and pulverized.
