The SnRK2.3-AREB1-TST1/2 cascade activated by cytosolic glucose regulates sugar accumulation across tonoplasts in apple and tomato
Lingcheng Zhu,Chengcheng Wang,Jing Su,Yunjing Peng,Baiyun Li,Baiquan Ma,Fengwang Ma,Yong-Ling Ruan,Mingjun Li +8 more
TL;DR: It is discovered that MdERDL6-mediated glucose elevation in cytosol activates the SnRK2.3-AREB1-TST1/2 cascade to promote sugar accumulation in the vacuoles of apple and tomato fruits.

Transcriptomics and metabolomics reveal effect of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi on growth and development of apple plants
Shan-Shan Jing,Yuchao Li,Lingcheng Zhu,Jing Su,Tianyi Yang,Bo-Wen Liu,Baiquan Ma,Fengwang Ma,Mingjun Li,Manrang Zhang +9 more
TL;DR: In this paper , the apple rootstock M26 was assessed physiologically, transcriptionally and metabolically when grown with and without AMF inoculation, and it was shown that AMF significantly promoted the number of lateral root increase and shoot elongation.

Comprehensive identification of sugar transporters in the Malus spp. genomes reveals their potential functions in sugar accumulation in apple fruits
TL;DR: In this article , the sugar transporter genes were identified in the updated apple genome (GDDH13 v1.1) and clustered into ten sub-families, and the apple ST genes mapped to all 17 apple chromosomes and had experienced wholegenome duplication (WGD)/segmental duplication and tandem duplication during the process of apple domestication.

Transcriptional repression of MdMa1 by MdMYB21 in Ma Locus decreases malic acid content in apple fruit.
Yunjing Peng,Yangyang Yuan,Wenjing Chang,Litong Zheng,Wen-Hui Ma,Peipei Liu,Lingcheng Zhu,Jing Su,Fengwang Ma,Mingjun Li,Baiquan Ma +10 more
TL;DR: In this paper , a candidate gene for malic acid content, designated MdMa1, was previously identified in the Ma locus, which is a major quantitative trait locus for apple fruit acidity located on the linkage group (LG) 16.

Response of carbohydrate metabolism-mediated sink strength to auxin in shoot tips of apple plants
TL;DR: In this article , the authors found that exogenous IAA altered fructose (Fru), glucose (Glc), and sucrose (Suc) concentrations in shoot tips mainly by regulating MdSUSY1, MdFRK2, MdHxK1/3 and MdSDH2 transcript levels.
