Comparative Transcriptional Profiling of Two Contrasting Rice Genotypes under Salinity Stress during the Vegetative Growth Stage
Harkamal Walia,Clyde Wilson,Pascal Condamine,Xuan Liu,Abdelbagi M. Ismail,Linghe Zeng,Steve Wanamaker,Jayati Mandal,Jin Xu,Xinping Cui,Timothy J. Close +10 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors used the Affymetrix rice genome array containing 55,515 probe sets to explore the transcriptome of the salt-tolerant and salt-sensitive genotypes under control and salinity stressed conditions during vegetative growth.
Detecting single-feature polymorphisms using oligonucleotide arrays and robustified projection pursuit
Xinping Cui,Jin Xu,Rehana Asghar,Pascal Condamine,Jan T. Svensson,Steve Wanamaker,Nils Stein,Mikeal L. Roose,Timothy J. Close +8 more
TL;DR: SFP detection is demonstrated using a small number of replicate datasets and complex RNA as a surrogate for barley DNA using robustified projection pursuit (RPP) to identify single probes defining SFPs in the data.

Array-based genotyping and expression analysis of barley cv. Maythorpe and Golden Promise.
Harkamal Walia,Harkamal Walia,Clyde Wilson,Pascal Condamine,Abdelbagi M. Ismail,Jin Xu,Xinping Cui,Timothy J. Close +7 more
TL;DR: The results confirm that Golden Promise and Maythorpe are genetically very closely related but establish that they are not isogenic, as previously reported, due to three polymorphic haplotype blocks.
Mapping translocation breakpoints using a wheat microarray
Prasanna R. Bhat,Adam J. Lukaszewski,Xinping Cui,Jin Xu,Jan T. Svensson,Steve Wanamaker,J. Giles Waines,Timothy J. Close +7 more
TL;DR: Mapping of translocation breakpoints using a microarray was used to compare normal hexaploid wheat to a ditelosomic stock missing the short arm of chromosome 1B and wheat-rye translocations that replace portions of 1BS with rye 1RS and examined the extent to which HVPs associated with 1BS aneuploidy are related to rice genes on syntenic rice chromosome 5 short arm.
Improved statistics for contrasting means of two samples under non-normality.
TL;DR: It is shown that the new statistics can improve the precision of statistical inference to the level of o (n(-1), where n is the pooled sample size.
