Pharmacokinetics of an anti—human immunodeficiency virus antisense oligodeoxynucleotide phosphorothioate (GEM 91) in HIV-infected subjects
Ruiwen Zhang,Jieming Yan,Harout Shahinian,Girish Amin,Zhihong Lu,Tiepu Liu,Michael S. Saag,Zhiwei Jiang,Jamal Temsamani,R. Russell Martin,Paul J. Schechter,Sudhir Agrawal,Robert B. Diasio +12 more
TL;DR: Human pharmacokinetics of an antisense oligodeoxynucleotide phosphorothioate developed as an anti—human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) agent was carried out and radioactivity in plasma and urine was associated with lower molecular weight metabolites.

Semi-automated radioassay for determination of dihydropyrimidine dehydrogenase (DPD) activity. Screening cancer patients for DPD deficiency, a condition associated with 5-fluorouracil toxicity.
TL;DR: A semi-automated radioassay for measuring DPD activity in human peripheral lymphocytes is reported, providing the first specific assay for DPD enzyme activity which is rapid, reproducible and sensitive enough to be used in the routine screening of cancer patients for D PD deficiency prior to treatment with FUra.

Role of matrix metalloproteinases in colorectal carcinogenesis.
Martin J. Heslin,Jieming Yan,Martin R. Johnson,Heidi L. Weiss,Robert B. Diasio,Marshall M. Urist +5 more
TL;DR: Overexpression of MMP-7 is an early event in the adenoma-to-carcinoma pathway, and expression does not appear to increase further in carcinomas, which may be one mechanism by whichadenoma cells gain the ability to invade and carcinoma cells to metastasize.

The effect of sorivudine on dihydropyrimidine dehydrogenase activity in patients with acute herpes zoster
Jieming Yan,Stephen K. Tyring,Stephen K. Tyring,Stephen K. Tyring,Monica M. McCrary,Monica M. McCrary,Monica M. McCrary,Patricia C. Lee,Patricia C. Lee,Patricia C. Lee,Stephen J. Haworth,Stephen J. Haworth,Stephen J. Haworth,Ralph H. Raymond,Ralph H. Raymond,Ralph H. Raymond,Steven Olsen,Steven Olsen,Steven Olsen,Robert B. Diasio,Robert B. Diasio,Robert B. Diasio +21 more
TL;DR: The objective of this study was to assess the time course of recovery of DPD activity after oral administration of sorivudine in patients with herpes zoster and to correlate restoration of D PD activity and levels of uracil with the elimination of sorvudine and its metabolite BVU from the circulation.

Dihydropyrimidine dehydrogenase (DPD) rapidly regenerates after inactivation by eniluracil (GW776C85) in primary and metastatic colorectal cancer.
Martin J. Heslin,Jieming Yan,Heidi L. Weiss,Lingning Shao,Jill Owens,V. Sol Lucas,Robert B. Diasio +6 more
TL;DR: These results demonstrate that oral administration of eniluracil inactivated DPD below the level of detection in normal tissues as well as in primary and metastatic CRC.
