The RHIC design overview
Harald Hahn,E. Forsyth,H. Foelsche,Michael Harrison,J. Kewisch,G. Parzen,Steve Peggs,E. Raka,Alessandro G. Ruggiero,A. Stevens,Steven Tepikian,Peter Thieberger,Dejan Trbojevic,Jie Wei,E. H. Willen,Satoshi Ozaki,S. Y. Lee +16 more
TL;DR: The Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC) as discussed by the authors provides collisions of heavy ions covering the entire mass range from protons to gold, achieving energies up to 100GeV/n per beam and luminosities of ∼2×1026 cm−2 s−1, averaged over a 10-h storage time.

Theory of tapered cooling
Hiromi Okamoto,Jie Wei +1 more
TL;DR: A theory of tapered cooling for fast circulating ion beams in a storage ring is constructed in this article, which effectively yields both transverse and longitudinal cooling through radial position-dependent longitudinal momentum cooling.
Three-dimensional laser cooling method based on resonant linear coupling
TL;DR: In this paper, a three-dimensional (3D) laser cooling method of fast stored ion beams based on a linear coupling mechanism is explored, and it is demonstrated that resonant coupling remarkably enhances transverse cooling rates for any initial beams, making it feasible to reach an equilibrium temperature far below the current achievable level.
Formation and mitigation of halo particles in the Spallation Neutron Source linac
Dong-O Jeon,J. Stovall,J. Stovall,Alexander Aleksandrov,Jie Wei,J. Staples,R. Keller,L. Young,H. Takeda,S. Nath +9 more
TL;DR: In this article, a halo generation mechanism in the nonperiodic lattices such as the SNS (Spallation Neutron Source) linac MEBT [medium-energy beam transport between radio-frequency quadrupole and DTL (drift tube linac)] is reported.
