Finite element modelling approach for precast reinforced concrete beam-to-column connections under cyclic loading

A new precast concrete beam-to-column connection for moment-resisting frames was developed in this study. Both longitudinal bar anchoring and lap splicing were used to achieve beam reinforcement continuity. Three full-scale beam-to-column connections, including a reference monolithic specimen, were investigated under reversal cyclic loading. The difference between the two precast specimens was the consideration of additional lap-splicing bars in the calculation of moment-resisting strength. Seismic performance was evaluated based on hysteretic behavior, strength, ductility, stiffness, and energy dissipation. The plastic hinge length of the specimens is also discussed. The results show that the proposed precast system performs satisfactorily under reversal cyclic loading compared with the monolithic specimen, and the additional lap-splicing bars can be included in the strength calculation using the plane cross-section assumption. Development and Seismic Behavior of Precast Concrete Beam-to-Column Connections

Concrete-filled L-shaped steel tube columns can be used to save architectural space at room corners, and may have many advantages of structural behavior of common concrete-filled steel tubes as columns. In this paper, the seismic behavior of concrete-filled L-shaped steel tube columns (CFLSTs) was investigated. Six specimens subjected to a constant axial load and cyclically varying lateral loading were tested to study the effects of width to depth ratio of section, depth to thickness ratio of steel tube and axial load level on the strength, as well as stiffness, ductility and energy dissipation of CFLST columns. Experimental results showed that the displacement ductility of CFLST columns decreased significantly with the increase of axial load level, and the strength and stiffness degradations of CFLST columns were more significant with higher axial load level. Precast reinforced concrete structures are widely used due to many constructional advantages such as faster construction speed, lower construction cost, being environmentally friendly, higher strength, and so on. To study the seismic performance of precast reinforced concrete structures, tests on beam-to-column joints of precast reinforced concrete structures were conducted under low reversed cyclic loading. In total, four joint specimens were produced in this study, including two precast joints and two cast-in-place joints. In addition to the comparison between different types of joints, the axial compression ratio of column was adopted as the main variable in this study. Seismic performance comparison between precast beam joints and cast-in-place beam joints:

The experimental and analytical investigations carried out on large-scale interior precast beam to column joints with composite slab are presented in this paper. Four specimens were tested under reversed cyclic loading that simulated earthquake-type motions. The most relevant feature of the joint is that the beam reinforcement on the bottom was formed and installed with anchor head, rather than bent to form stand 90-degree hooks or closed loops. The performance of the precast concrete connection was compared with that of the monolithic connection, and the failure pattern, hysteretic characteristic, skeleton curve, displacement ductility and energy dissipation, were analyzed.
