TL;DR: The prevalence of diabeticretinopathy and sight-threatening diabetic retinopathy in the inpatient population is likely significantly higher than in the general diabetic population in the USA and patients have barriers to care that need to be addressed to make standard of care ophthalmic examinations and treatment possible in this population.

TL;DR: In this cohort of high-risk term deliveries, maternal demographics and comorbidities were found not to be associated with increased risk for respiratory distress syndrome, but novel risk factors for RDS after 37 weeks' gestation - chorioamnionitis and endometritis - were identified.
