Canopy photosynthetic capacity drives contrasting age dynamics of resource use efficiencies between mature temperate evergreen and deciduous forests.
Hang Xu,Hang Xu,Jingfeng Xiao,Zhiqiang Zhang,Scott V. Ollinger,David Y. Hollinger,Yude Pan,Jiaming Wan +7 more
TL;DR: Age-dependent variability of forest light use efficiency (LUE) and inherent water use efficiency as well as their main regulatory variables in temperate regions were explored and showed that evergreen forest RUEs initially increased before reaching the mature stage, and then gradually declined; in contrast, Rues continuously increased with age for mature deciduous forests.

Light use efficiency models incorporating diffuse radiation impacts for simulating terrestrial ecosystem gross primary productivity: A global comparison
Hang Xu,Zhiqiang Zhang,Xiaoyun Wu,Jiaming Wan +3 more
TL;DR: In this article , the authors evaluated the global performance of ten light use efficiency (LUE) models considering diffuse radiation impacts (CFLUX, DIFFUSE, CI-LUE, CCW, Wang's Model, CIEF, TL-LUI, TLLUEn, DTEC, and RTL-LUEn) at 102 flux sites in a standardized framework and found that LUE models considering DIR can explain 46.7-63.6% of daily GPP variability obtained by the eddy covariance technique.
