Sliding mode controller-based switched-capacitor-based high DC gain and low voltage stress DC-DC boost converter for photovoltaic applications

This brief mainly studies the dynamic analysis and control problem for the Leslie-Gower predator-prey system, which is established by a delay-differential equation. We use the Euler scheme to derive the discrete form of Leslie-Gower model. By discussing the associated characteristic equation, its dynamics properties, including stability analysis and Neimark-Sacker bifurcation, are investigated. Furthermore, we use the center manifold reduction and normal form theory to show the directions of Neimark-Sacker bifurcation, and we also analyze the stability of periodic bifurcation solution. In order to achieve effective control of the above bifurcation, we proposed a novel delayed feedback control scheme. Finally, an simulation example is given to verify the effectiveness of the main conclusion.

Bifurcation and Control for a Predator-Prey System With Two Delays

One-cycle controlled Cuk converters are prone to exhibit oscillation at the input stage as a result of Hopf bifurcation. A controller based on time delay feedback is proposed to eliminate the oscillation and stabilize the converter. The controller introduces two new parameters, which are known as the feedback gain and the delayed time. These two parameters are of great importance in stabilizing the converter. The averaged model of the converter is adopted to select the parameters. A necessary condition for the converter to be stabilized gives an effective range of the two parameters. An experimental Cuk converter was constructed for verification purposes. The waveforms in front of load changes are provided. The results show that the proposed controller eliminated the oscillation in the input stage of the converter. The controller allows widening of the stability domain and decreases switch voltage stress in the input stage of the one-cycle controlled Cuk converter.

Hopf Bifurcation and Its Control in the One-Cycle Controlled Cuk Converter

In the modern world of technology, the cascaded DC-DC converters with multiple output configurations are contributing a dominant part in the DC distribution systems and DC micro-grids. An individual DC-DC converter of any configuration exhibits complex non-linear dynamic behavior resulting in instability. This paper presents a cascaded system with one source boost converter and three load converters including buck, Cuk, and Single-Ended Primary Inductance Converter (SEPIC) that are analyzed for the complex non-linear bifurcation phenomena. An outer voltage feedback loop along with an inner current feedback loop control strategy is used for all the sub-converters in the cascaded system. To explain the complex non-linear dynamic behavior, a discrete mapping model is developed for the proposed cascaded system and the Jacobian matrix’s eigenvalues are evaluated. For the simplification of the analysis, every load converter is regarded as a fixed power load (FPL) under reasonable assumptions such as fixed frequency and input voltage. The eigenvalues of period-1 and period-2 reveal that the source boost converter undergoes period-2 orbit and chaos whereas all the load converters operate in a stable period-1 orbit. The proposed configuration eliminates the period-2 and chaotic behavior from all the load converters and is also validated using simulation in MATLAB/Simulink and experimental results.

Mitigation of Complex Non-Linear Dynamic Effects in Multiple Output Cascaded DC-DC Converters

In this paper, a novel controller for an input-saturated direct current to direct current (DC–DC) buck power converter has been proposed. The control scheme guarantees global asymptotic stability, even though the input to the power converter is affected by a hard saturation nonlinearity that results from the fact that in practice the duty cycle can only take continuous values between zero and one. Specifically, asymptotic stability is ensured by using a special quadratic-type Lyapunov function and LaSalle’s invariance principle. In addition, to prevent inductor current’s noisy measurements, an observer is proposed together with the proposed control law. Stability is also discussed rigorously for the resulting observer-based scheme. The real-time experimental comparisons with respect to a known approach are presented. Better performance is obtained with the novel observer-based controller.

Analysis and Design of a Controller for an Input-Saturated DC–DC Buck Power Converter

A first-order-filter-based time delay feedback (TDF) controller is proposed to stabilize the buck converter when operating with non-linear phenomena, such as bifurcation and chaos. Compared with the existing second-order filter method, the proposed controller needs only two parameters. This is similar to the ideal TDF controller and it makes the design of the controller simpler. The discrete model of the converter is used to compute one of the two parameters, which is known as the feedback gain. The frequency domain comparison of the proposed controller and the ideal TDF controller shows that the proposed controller is almost non-invasive, because it does not change the dc component of the converter and only changes slightly the harmonic at the switching frequency. The proposed controller has another structure called the extended controller, which needs three parameters. By increasing the third parameter, the feedback gain needs a larger value to stabilize the converter. The benefit of the proposed controller lies in the fact that it does not need the digital circuit that was thought to be necessary for the TDF control of the converter. Simulated and experimental waveforms verify the computation results. The added feedback signal is small enough when the switch turns on.
