Total Synthesis of Bryostatin 8 Using an Organosilane-Based Strategy
Yuebao Zhang,Qianyou Guo,Xianwei Sun,Ji Lu,Yanjun Cao,Qiang Pu,Zhiwen Chu,Lu Gao,Zhenlei Song,Zhenlei Song +9 more
TL;DR: Convergent total synthesis of bryostatin 8 has been accomplished by an organosilane-based strategy, efficiently joining the northern and southern parts of the molecule.

Chemoselective deoxygenation of ether-substituted alcohols and carbonyl compounds by B(C6F5)3-catalyzed reduction with (HMe2SiCH2)2
TL;DR: B(C6F5)3-catalyzed deoxygenation of ether-substituted alcohols and carbonyl compounds has been developed using (HMe2SiCH2)2 as the reductant, giving the corresponding alkanes in high yields with good tolerance of ethers, aryl halides and alkenes.

[1,5]-Brook rearrangement: an overlooked but valuable silyl migration to synthesize configurationally defined vinylsilane. The unique steric and electronic effects of geminal bis(silane).
TL;DR: An unusual [1,5]-Brook rearrangement of the lithium alkoxide of geminal bis(silyl) homoallylic alcohol is described, which facilitates the subsequent γ/Z-selective addition of silyl allyllithium with carbonyl compounds to synthesize diverse configurationally defined Z-vinylsilanes.

Visible light-promoted radical cyclization of silicon-tethered alkyl iodide and phenyl alkyne. An efficient approach to synthesize benzosilolines
TL;DR: An efficient approach to synthesize benzosiloline has been developed using a visible light-promoted radical cyclization reaction of silicon-tethered alkyl iodide and phenyl alkyne.

Recent efforts to construct the B-ring of bryostatins.
Lu Gao,Ji Lu,Zhenlei Song +2 more
TL;DR: Progress towards the B-ring, which features a cis-tetrahydropyran containing a geometrically defined exocyclic Z-methyl enoate, is summarized.
