Keyhole-induced porosities in Laser-based Powder Bed Fusion (L-PBF) of Ti6Al4V: High-fidelity modelling and experimental validation
Mohamad Bayat,Aditi Thanki,Sankhya Mohanty,Ann Witvrouw,Shoufeng Yang,Jesper Thorborg,Niels Skat Tiedje,Jesper Henri Hattel +7 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a combined numerical and experimental approach has been used to analyze the formation, evolution and disappearance of keyhole and keyhole-induced porosities along with their initiating mechanisms, during single track L-PBF of a Ti6Al4V alloy.

Modeling the elastic behavior of ductile cast iron including anisotropy in the graphite nodules
TL;DR: In this paper, a micro-mechanical approach to model the intrinsic elastic anisotropy of the graphite particles in ductile iron is presented, which is directly derived on the basis of the nodule characteristic internal structure, composed of graphite platelets arranged into conical sectors.

A micro-mechanical analysis of thermo-elastic properties and local residual stresses in ductile iron based on a new anisotropic model for the graphite nodules
TL;DR: In this article, the authors derived the thermo-elastic behavior of graphite nodules contained in ductile iron by using transmission electron microscopy investigations of their real internal structure.
Impact of micro-scale residual stress on in-situ tensile testing of ductile cast iron: Digital volume correlation vs. model with fully resolved microstructure vs. periodic unit cell
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors investigated the impact of residual stress on the room-temperature tensile deformation of ductile iron and showed that residual stress and a low interface strength are the key to explain the early stages of the deformation.

Microstructure and residual elastic strain at graphite nodules in ductile cast iron analyzed by synchrotron X-ray microdiffraction
Yubin Zhang,Tito Andriollo,Søren Fæster,Rozaliya Barabash,R. Xu,Niels Skat Tiedje,Jesper Thorborg,Jesper Henri Hattel,D. Juul Jensen,Niels Hansen +9 more
TL;DR: In this article, the microstructure and residual elastic strain at graphite nodules (GNs) in ductile cast iron produced using either a fast or slow cooling rate have been characterized using synchrotron 3D X-ray Laue microdiffraction.
