Optimization of STEM tomography acquisition — A comparison of convergent beam and parallel beam STEM tomography
TL;DR: It is shown that STEM using a parallel beam produces tomograms with fewer distortions and artifacts that allows resolving finer features in biological samples and is advantageous especially in life science.

Electronic Interactions between "Pea" and "Pod": The Case of Oligothiophenes Encapsulated in Carbon Nanotubes
Jia Gao,Pascal Blondeau,Patrizio Salice,Enzo Menna,Barbora Bártová,Cécile Hébert,Jens Leschner,Ute Kaiser,Matus Milko,Claudia Ambrosch-Draxl,Maria Antonietta Loi +10 more
TL;DR: The underlying electronic structure is investigated by density functional theory calculations for a series of peapods with different molecular lengths and tube diameters, which demonstrate that van der Waals interactions are the bonding mechanism between the encapsulated molecule and the tube.

Electron Tomographic Characterization of Er doped SiC
TL;DR: In this article, the nanocrystal formation process of hill-like shaped ErSi2 nanocrystals formed after high dose Er ion implantation in 4H-SiC by HAADF-STEM imaging and spectroscopy was studied.
