Methods to determine limit of detection and limit of quantification in quantitative real-time PCR (qPCR).
TL;DR: This work presents methods to determine the limit of detection (LoD) and thelimit of quantification (LoQ) as applicable to qPCR, based on standard statistical methods as recommended by regulatory bodies adapted toqPCR and complemented with a novel approach to estimate the precision of LoD.

Biomarkers for Monitoring Pre-Analytical Quality Variation of mRNA in Blood Samples
Hui Zhang,Vlasta Korenkova,Robert Sjöback,David Svec,Jens Björkman,Mogens Kruhøffer,Paolo Verderio,Sara Pizzamiglio,Chiara Maura Ciniselli,Ralf Wyrich,Uwe Oelmueller,Mikael Kubista,Torbjørn Lindahl,Anders Lönneborg,Edith Rian +14 more
TL;DR: These biomarkers were further evaluated in the 2nd ring trial of the SPIDIA-RNA Program which demonstrated that these biomarkers can be used as quality control tools for mRNA analyses from blood samples.
Differential amplicons (ΔAmp)-a new molecular method to assess RNA integrity.
TL;DR: A novel molecular approach to assess the quality of the targeted RNA species by measuring the differential amplification (ΔAmp) of an Endogenous RNase Resistant (ERR) marker relative to a reference gene, optionally combined with the measurement of two amplicons of different lengths which reveals any mRNA degradation caused by ribonucleases as well as physical, chemical or UV damage.
The focus on sample quality: Influence of colon tissue collection on reliability of qPCR data
Vlasta Korenkova,Jana Slyskova,Vendula Novosadova,Sara Pizzamiglio,Lucie Langerova,Jens Björkman,Ondrej Vycital,Vaclav Liska,Miroslav Levy,Karel Veskrna,Pavel Vodicka,Pavel Vodicka,Pavel Vodicka,Ludmila Vodickova,Ludmila Vodickova,Ludmila Vodickova,Mikael Kubista,Paolo Verderio +17 more
TL;DR: PAgene collection mode proved to be more easily implemented in the operating room and moreover the quality of RNA obtained from human colon tissues by this method is superior to the one obtained by snap freezing.

TL;DR: In this article , the authors identify protein biomarkers of new-onset heart failure (HF) in three independent cohorts (HOMAGE cohort, ARIC study, and Framingham Heart Study) and assess if and to what extent they improve HF risk prediction compared to clinical risk factors alone.
