TL;DR: The authors identified shared biology and host-directed drug targets to prioritize therapeutics with potential for rapid deployment against current and future coronavirus outbreaks, and found that individuals with genotypes corresponding to higher soluble IL17RA levels in plasma are at decreased risk of COVID-19 hospitalization.
Drosophila TAFII150: similarity to yeast gene TSM-1 and specific binding to core promoter DNA.
TL;DR: The data demonstrate that at least one of the TAFs is a sequence-specific DNA binding protein and that dTAFII150 together with TBP are responsible for TFIID interactions with an extended region of the core promoter.

Structure and dynamics of the essential endogenous mycobacterial polyketide synthase Pks13
Sun Kyung Kim,Miles Sasha Dickinson,Janet Finer-Moore,Ziqiang Guan,Robyn M. Kaake,Ignacia Echeverria,Jen Chen,Ernst H. Pulido,Andrej Sali,Nevan J. Krogan,Oren S. Rosenberg,Robert M. Stroud +11 more
TL;DR: In this paper , the structures of polyketide synthase 13 (Pks13) were determined by cryogenic-electron microscopy of dimeric multi-enzyme Pks13 purified from mycobacteria under normal growth conditions, captured with native substrates.

Integrated systems biology and imaging of the smallest free-living eukaryote Ostreococcus tauri

TL;DR: Despite several energy dense long-chain triacylglycerol lipids showing more than 40-fold higher abundance under N deprivation, only a few proteins directly associated with lipid biogenesis showed significant expression changes and the entire pathway for starch granule biosynthesis was highly upregulated suggesting much of the cellular energy is preferentially directed towards starch over lipid accumulation.
A species-specific retrotransposon drives a conserved Cdk2ap1 isoform essential for preimplantation development
Andrew J. Modzelewski,Wanqing Shao,Jen Chen,Angus Y. Lee,Qi X,Noon M,Tjokro K,Gabriele Sales,Anne Biton,Terence P. Speed,Zhenyu Xuan,Ting Wang,Davide Risso,Lin He +13 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors characterized the transient retrotransposon induction in preimplantation development of eight mammalian species and found that the mouse-specific MT2B2 element is developmentally essential, as its deletion abolishes Cdk2ap1{Delta}N, reducing cell proliferation and impairs embryo implantation.
