Dimerization, disproportionation and e.c.e. mechanisms in the reduction of aromatic carbonyl compounds in alkaline media
L. Nadjo,Jean-Michel Savéant +1 more
TL;DR: In this article, the reduction of several aromatic carbonyl compounds in ethanolic alkaline media has been investigated, and it is concluded that the dimerization mechanism is composed of a rate determining coupling between a neutral ketyl radical and an anion kyl radical, preceded by a fast and equilibrated protonation and eventually followed by neutralization of the pinacolate.

Electrodimerization: VII. Electrode and solution electron transfers in the radical-substrate coupling mechanism. discriminative criteria from the other mechanisms in voltammetric studies (Linear sweep, rotating disc, polarography)
TL;DR: In this article, the interference of solution electron transfer, as well as electrode electron transfer in radical-substrate electrochemical coupling mechanisms is studied as a particular case of the e.c. vs. disproportionation problem.

Thermodynamics of successive electron transfers: Internal and solvation enthalpy and entropy variations in a series of polynitro compounds
F. Ammar,Jean-Michel Savéant +1 more
TL;DR: In this article, the potential separation between successive electron transfers in a series of di- and polynitro-compounds is measured using convolution potential sweep voltammetry as a function of temperature in acetonitrile and dimethylformamide.
