Analysis of vegetation indices to determine nitrogen application and yield prediction in maize (Zea mays L.) from a standard UAV service
TL;DR: Different multispectral vegetation indices, SPAD and crop height were analysed to predict grain yield and determine whether an additional sidedress application of N fertilizer was required just before flowering, and the spectral index that best explained final grain yield was the Wide Dynamic Range Vegetation Index.

The impact of organic and mineral fertilizers on soil quality parameters and the productivity of irrigated maize crops in semiarid regions
TL;DR: Pig slurry (PS) is widely used as a fertilizer for the production of maize in Spain this paper, and the results showed that repeated application of PS had a beneficial impact on the soil quality over time but did not improve grain yields.

Sowing Date Affects Maize Development and Yield in Irrigated Mediterranean Environments
TL;DR: The data support the general perception of farmers that April sowings are the most appropriate in the area where the experiments were carried out and could focus in the effect of SD for total annual yields in double-annual cropping systems.

Effects of corn stover management on soil quality
TL;DR: In this article, the authors evaluated the effects of stover removal on soil quality, using physicochemical and biological parameters as indicators of soil quality and found that stover incorporation can bring beneficial effects in terms of soil fertility, stabilization of soil structure, maintenance of soil organic carbon.

Yield, Yield Components, and Forage Nutritive Value of Alfalfa as Affected by Seeding Rate under Irrigated Conditions
Jaume Lloveras,Cristina Chocarro,Oscar Freixes,Ezequiel Arqué,Alberto Moreno,Francisca Santiveri +5 more
TL;DR: The DM yields and yield components indicate that 8.75 kg ha -1 of PLS could be sufficient to ensure adequate DM production and suggest that in a Mediterranean climate in which sprinkler irrigation is applied, there is little justification for high seeding rates under good establishment conditions.
