An analysis of the use of animal models in predicting human toxicology and drug safety.
TL;DR: Likelihood Ratios show that the absence of toxicity in the animal provides little or virtually no evidential weight that adverse drug reactions (ADRs) will also be absent in humans, and that alternative methods are urgently required for predicting human toxicity.

The Differential Expression of Myometrial Connexin-43, Cyclooxygenase-1 and -2, and Gsα Proteins in the Upper and Lower Segments of the Human Uterus during Pregnancy and Labor1
TL;DR: The differential expression of COX-1 and -2 and connexin-43 in the uterus may allow cervical ripening before and dilatation during labor and facilitate effective propagation of contractions from fundus to cervix, which may be further facilitated by the down-regulation of Gs alpha at the onset of parturition.
The future of teratology research is in vitro
TL;DR: It is argued that the poor performance of animal-based teratology alone warrants its cessation; it ought to be replaced by the easier, cheaper and more repeatable EST, and resources made available to improve this and other tests even further.
An analysis of the use of dogs in predicting human toxicology and drug safety.
TL;DR: Likelihood Ratios for an extensive dataset of 2,366 drugs with both animal and human data, including tissue-level effects and Medical Dictionary for Regulatory Activities Level 1–4 biomedical observations show that the absence of toxicity in dogs provides virtually no evidence that adverse drug reactions will also be absent in humans.
