Effect of Mg and Cu on microstructure, hardness and wear on functionally graded Al–19Si alloy prepared by centrifugal casting
C. Contatori,N.I. Domingues,R.L. Barreto,N.B. de Lima,Jan Vatavuk,A.A.C. Borges,Gisele F. C. Almeida,Antônio Augusto Couto +7 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors investigated the copper and the magnesium effects on the microstructure, on the hardness, and on the resistance to micro-abrasive wear of the alloy Al-19Si.

Effect of chemical banding on the local hardenability in AISI 4340 steel bar
Renata Neves Penha,Jan Vatavuk,Antônio Augusto Couto,Silvio André de Lima Pereira,Silas Aragão de Sousa,Lauralice de Campos Franceschini Canale +5 more
TL;DR: In this article, the microstructure of a 240mm diameter AISI 4340 mill shaft, quenched and tempered, was analyzed through its longitudinal cross section, and a semi quantitative chemical analysis was carried out through the banded structure to understand the differential hardenability behavior.

Nitriding Process Characterization of Cold Worked AISI 304 and 316 Austenitic Stainless Steels
TL;DR: The mechanical strength of both steels after nitriding processes reveals significant hardness values, almost 1100 HV, on the nitrided layers, and the initial cold work (previous plastic deformations) in both AISI 304 and 306 austenitic stainless steels does not show special influence.
