A Multicenter Trial of Remote Ischemic Preconditioning for Heart Surgery
Patrick Meybohm,Berthold Bein,Oana Brosteanu,Jochen Cremer,Matthias Gruenewald,Christian Stoppe,Mark Coburn,G. Schaelte,Andreas Böning,Bernd Niemann,Jan P. Roesner,Frank Kletzin,U. Strouhal,Christian Reyher,Rita Laufenberg-Feldmann,Marion Ferner,I. F. Schilling,Georg Fuernau,Dirk Hasenclever,Kai Zacharowski +33 more
TL;DR: Upper-limb RIPC performed while patients were under propofol-induced anesthesia did not show a relevant benefit among patients undergoing elective cardiac surgery.

Drug detection in breath: effects of pulmonary blood flow and cardiac output on propofol exhalation
Svend Kamysek,Patricia Fuchs,Henny Schwoebel,Jan P. Roesner,Sabine Kischkel,Kathi Wolter,Christian Loeseken,Jochen K. Schubert,Wolfram Miekisch +8 more
TL;DR: Estimation of propofol blood concentrations from exhaled alveolar concentrations seems possible by means of different analytical methods even when cardiac output is decreased, and increases in cardiac output preclude prediction of blood prop ofol concentration from exhale concentrations.

Remote ischaemic preconditioning for heart surgery. The study design for a multi-center randomized double-blinded controlled clinical trial--the RIPHeart-Study
Patrick Meybohm,Kai Zacharowski,Jochen Cremer,Jan P. Roesner,Frank Kletzin,G. Schaelte,Marc Felzen,U. Strouhal,Christian Reyher,Matthias Heringlake,Julika Schön,I. F. Brandes,Martin Bauer,Pascal Knuefermann,Maria Wittmann,Thomas Hachenberg,Thomas F. Schilling,Thorsten Smul,Sonja Maisch,Michael Sander,Tobias Moormann,Andreas Boening,Markus A. Weigand,Rita Laufenberg,Christian Werner,Michael Winterhalter,Tanja A. Treschan,Sebastian Stehr,Konrad Reinhart,Dirk Hasenclever,Oana Brosteanu,Berthold Bein +31 more
TL;DR: The RIPHeart-Study is a multicentre trial to determine whether RIPC may improve clinical outcome in cardiac surgical patients.

Therapeutic injection of parp inhibitor ino-1001 preserves cardiac function in porcine myocardial ischemia and reperfusion without reducing infarct size
Jan P. Roesner,Jan Mersmann,Stefan Bergt,Karl Bohnenberg,Carmen Barthuber,Csaba Szabó,G. Nöldge-Schomburg,Kai Zacharowski +7 more
TL;DR: Although the putative infarct size (IS)-sparing capacity of poly(ADP-ribose)polymerase inhibitor, INO-1001, is not confirmed, the drug holds the potential of hemodynamic improvement during reperfusion.

Toll-Like Receptor 2–Blocking Antibodies Promote Angiogenesis and Induce ERK1/2 and AKT Signaling via CXCR4 in Endothelial Cells
TL;DR: The results provide evidence for a proangiogenic effect ofTLR2-blocking ABs on endothelial cells in vitro and in vivo and identify a novel molecular mechanism linking TLR2 to angiogenic processes that is independent from the activation of inflammatory cascades.
