COMT and MAO-A Polymorphisms and Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder: A Family-Based Association Study
Aline S. Sampaio,Ana Gabriela Hounie,Kátia Petribú,Carolina Cappi,Ivanil A. Morais,Homero Vallada,Maria Conceição do Rosário,S. Evelyn Stewart,Jesen Fargeness,Carol A. Mathews,Paul Arnold,Gregory L. Hanna,Margaret A. Richter,James L. Kennedy,Leonardo F. Fontenelle,Carlos Eduardo Pereira,David L. Pauls,Euripedes Constantino Miguel +17 more
TL;DR: The findings do not support an association between DSM-IV OCD and the variants of COMT or MAO-A and the evaluation of broader spectrum phenotypes could help to understand the role of these and other genes in the pathophysiology of OCD and its spectrum disorders.
Identification of a processed pseudogene related to the functional gene encoding the GM2 activator protein: localization of the pseudogene to human chromosome 3 and the functional gene to human chromosome 5.
TL;DR: It is demonstrated here that conflicts were caused by the presence of a previously unidentified processed activator-pseudogene on chromosome 3, and a previous ELISA-based localization of the functional activator gene to chromosome 5 is confirmed.

Localized changes in GABA receptor‐gated chloride channel in rat brain after long‐term haloperidol: Relation to vacuous chewing movements
TL;DR: The results are consistent with the notion of altered striatopallidal output as a result of chronic HAL treatment and suggest the possibility that alterations in GABA receptor‐linked Cl− channels in the ventrolateral caudate‐putamen may contribute to the development of dyskinetic syndromes after long‐term neuroleptic treatment.

TL;DR: In this article , the authors identify novel, replicable genomic risk loci for suicidal thoughts and behaviors (SITB) through meta-analysis and identify more than 200 GWS (P < 5 × 10 − 8) cross-ancestry risk single-nucleotide variants for SITB concentrated in 7 regions on chromosomes 2, 6, 9, 11, 14, 16, and 18.

Brief Research Communication Association Study of the Estrogen Receptor Alpha Gene (ESR1) and Childhood-Onset Mood Disorders
Jonathan Mill,Eniko Kiss,Ildikó Baji,Krisztina Kapornai,James L. Kennedy,Maria Kovacs,Cathy L. Barr +6 more
- 01 Jan 2008
TL;DR: Genotyped eleven single nucleotide polymorphisms spanning the estrogen receptor alpha gene (ESR1) in a large family‐based childhood‐onset mood disorder (COMD) sample and suggest the existence of sex‐specific etiological factors in depressive disorders, related to estrogen, with onset in childhood.
