Benjamin Rix Brooks,Ronald A. Thisted,Stanley H. Appel,Walter G. Bradley,Richard K. Olney,James Berg,Laura E. Pope,Richard A. G. Smith +7 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a multicenter, randomized, double-blind, controlled, parallel, three-arm study was conducted to test a defined combination of dextromethorphan hydrobromide (DM) and quinidine sulfate (Q) for the treatment of pseudobulbar affect in ALS.

Randomized, controlled trial of dextromethorphan/quinidine for pseudobulbar affect in multiple sclerosis.
Hillel Panitch,Ronald A. Thisted,Richard A. G. Smith,Daniel Wynn,James Wymer,Anat Achiron,Timothy Vollmer,Raul N. Mandler,Dennis W. Dietrich,Malcolm Fletcher,Laura E. Pope,James Berg,Ariel Miller +12 more
TL;DR: To evaluate the efficacy and safety of DM/Q (capsules containing dextromethorphan [DM] and quinidine [Q]) compared with placebo, taken twice daily, for the treatment of pseudobulbar affect over a 12‐week period in multiple sclerosis patients.
180
Pharmacokinetics of dextromethorphan after single or multiple dosing in combination with quinidine in extensive and poor metabolizers
TL;DR: Results from both studies indicated that 25 to 30 mg Q is adequate to maximally suppress O‐demethylation of DM, with no difference between extensive and poor metabolizer phenotypes.
