Comparing the Outcomes of Adults With Enterobacteriaceae Bacteremia Receiving Short-Course Versus Prolonged-Course Antibiotic Therapy in a Multicenter, Propensity Score-Matched Cohort.
Darunee Chotiprasitsakul,Jennifer H. Han,Sara E. Cosgrove,Anthony D. Harris,Ebbing Lautenbach,Anna T. Conley,Pam Tolomeo,Jacqueleen Wise,Pranita D. Tamma +8 more
TL;DR: Short courses of antibiotics therapy yield similar clinical outcomes as prolonged courses of antibiotic therapy for Enterobacteriaceae bacteremia, and may protect against subsequent MDRGN bacteria.

Association of 30-Day Mortality With Oral Step-Down vs Continued Intravenous Therapy in Patients Hospitalized With Enterobacteriaceae Bacteremia.
Pranita D. Tamma,Anna T. Conley,Sara E. Cosgrove,Anthony D. Harris,Ebbing Lautenbach,Joe Amoah,Edina Avdic,Pam Tolomeo,Jacqueleen Wise,Sonia Subudhi,Jennifer H. Han +10 more
TL;DR: The findings suggest that transitioning to oral step-down therapy may be an effective treatment approach for patients with Enterobacteriaceae bacteremia who have received source control and demonstrated an appropriate clinical response.
Epidemiology of Carbapenem-Resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae in a Network of Long-Term Acute Care Hospitals.
Jennifer H. Han,Ellie J. C. Goldstein,Jacqueleen Wise,Warren B. Bilker,Pam Tolomeo,Ebbing Lautenbach +5 more
TL;DR: Expansion of national surveillance efforts and improved communication among LTACHs and acute care hospitals will be critical for reducing the continued emergence of CRKP across the healthcare continuum.
Use of a Combination Biomarker Algorithm To Identify Medical Intensive Care Unit Patients with Suspected Sepsis at Very Low Likelihood of Bacterial Infection
Jennifer H. Han,Irving Nachamkin,Susan E. Coffin,Jeffrey S. Gerber,Barry D. Fuchs,Charles Garrigan,Xiaoyan Han,Warren B. Bilker,Jacqueleen Wise,Pam Tolomeo,Ebbing Lautenbach +10 more
TL;DR: Combinations of PCT and CRP demonstrated a high ability to discriminate bacterial sepsis from other causes of SIRS in medical ICU patients, and future studies should focus on the use of these algorithms to improve antibiotic use in the ICU setting.
The Effect of Total Household Decolonization on Clearance of Colonization With Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus aureus
Valerie Cluzet,Jeffrey S. Gerber,Joshua P. Metlay,Irving Nachamkin,Theoklis E. Zaoutis,Meghan F. Davis,Kathleen G. Julian,Darren R. Linkin,Susan E. Coffin,David J. Margolis,Judd E. Hollander,Warren B. Bilker,Xiaoyan Han,Rakesh D. Mistry,Laurence J. Gavin,Pam Tolomeo,Jacqueleen Wise,Mary K. Wheeler,Baofeng Hu,Neil O. Fishman,David Royer,Ebbing Lautenbach +21 more
TL;DR: Total household decolonization did not result in decreased time to clearance of MRSA colonization among adults and children with MRSA skin and soft-tissue infection, however, subjects who were compliant with the protocol had more rapid clearance.
