Medial Prefrontal and Anterior Insular Connectivity in Early Schizophrenia and Major Depressive Disorder: A Resting Functional MRI Evaluation of Large-Scale Brain Network Models.
Jacob Penner,Jacob Penner,Jacob Penner,Kristen A. Ford,Kristen A. Ford,Kristen A. Ford,Reggie Taylor,Reggie Taylor,Betsy Schaefer,Jean Théberge,Jean Théberge,Richard W. J. Neufeld,Elizabeth A. Osuch,Ravi S. Menon,Ravi S. Menon,Nagalingam Rajakumar,John M. Allman,Peter C. Williamson +17 more
TL;DR: Results were interpreted to support anomalies in nodes associated with directed effort in schizophrenia and node associated with emotional encoding network in MDD compared to healthy controls.

Semi-LASER 1 H MR spectroscopy at 7 Tesla in human brain: Metabolite quantification incorporating subject-specific macromolecule removal.
Jacob Penner,Robert Bartha +1 more
TL;DR: To develop an in vivo 1H short‐echo‐time semi‐LASER spectroscopy protocol at 7 Tesla (T) incorporating subject‐specific macromolecule removal and to test the protocol's ability to discriminate between Na6(CO3, Na2SO4, and Na2CO3 molecules.

Higher order thalamic nuclei resting network connectivity in early schizophrenia and major depressive disorder.
Jacob Penner,Jacob Penner,Jacob Penner,Elizabeth A. Osuch,Betsy Schaefer,Jean Théberge,Richard W. J. Neufeld,Ravi S. Menon,Nagalingam Rajakumar,James A. Bourne,Peter C. Williamson +10 more
TL;DR: The pulvinar and the mediodorsal nuclei of the thalamus are higher order nuclei which have been implicated in directed effort and corollary discharge systems and functional connectivity is measured in both SZ and MDD.

Reduced N-Acetylaspartate to Creatine Ratio in the Posterior Cingulate Correlates with Cognition in Alzheimer's Disease following Four Months of Rivastigmine Treatment
TL;DR: It is suggested that the N-acetylaspartate/creatine (NAA/Cr) ratio could be an objective indicator of a response to rivastigmine treatment and changes in cognitive performance correlated positively with changes in Mini-Mental State Examination scores.

Emotion regulation in emerging adults with major depressive disorder and frequent cannabis use.
Emily S. Nichols,Jacob Penner,Kristen A. Ford,Michael Wammes,Richard W. J. Neufeld,Derek G.V. Mitchell,Steven G. Greening,Jean Théberge,Peter C. Williamson,Elizabeth A. Osuch +9 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the effect of major depressive disorder (MDD) and cannabis use on brain activation during an emotion regulation task was evaluated using fMRI, and the results highlight the influence of cannabis use and MDD on emotion regulation processing, suggesting that both may have a broader impact on the brain than previously thought.
