Tirapazamine Plus Cisplatin Versus Cisplatin in Advanced Non–Small-Cell Lung Cancer: A Report of the International CATAPULT I Study Group
J. von Pawel,R. von Roemeling,U. Gatzemeier,Michael Boyer,L O Elisson,P I Clark,Denis C. Talbot,A Rey,T W Butler,Vera Hirsh,Ian N. Olver,Bengt Bergman,Joseph Ayoub,Gary Richardson,D Dunlop,A Arcenas,R Vescio,J Viallet,J. Treat +18 more
TL;DR: The CATAPULT I study shows that tirapazamine enhances the activity of cisplatin in patients with advanced NSCLC and confirms that hypoxia is an exploitable therapeutic target in human malignancies.

Phase III study of immediate versus delayed docetaxel after induction therapy with gemcitabine plus carboplatin in advanced non-small cell lung cancer: Updated report with survival
Panagiotis Fidias,Shaker R. Dakhil,Alan P. Lyss,David M. Loesch,David M. Waterhouse,J. Cunneen,Ruqin Chen,J. Treat,Coleman K. Obasaju,Joan H. Schiller +9 more
TL;DR: Gemcitabine plus carboplatin therapy is active in patients with advanced non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and optimal timing of second-line therapy for nonprogressing patients is found to be optimal.

Tirapazamine-cisplatin: the synergy.
TL;DR: Tirapazamine is the promising first drug from a new class of cytotoxic agents with a novel mechanism of action and can be effectively combined with cisplatin, and possibly with other agents, because of its safety profile and lack of overlapping dose-limiting toxicity, such as myelosuppression.

New advances in lung cancer chemotherapy: topotecan and the role of topoisomerase I inhibitors.
Chao Hui Huang,J. Treat +1 more
TL;DR: An overview of new agents in lung cancer chemotherapy is provided, with particular attention paid to the topoisomerase I inhibitors, as an illustration of the promise these new agents hold for the treatment of SCLC and NSCLC.

Comparison of patient outcomes stratified by histology among pemetrexed (P)-treated patients (pts) with stage IIIB/IV non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) in two phase II trials
Guangbin Peng,Ralph Zinner,Yunfei Wang,J. Treat,Matthew J. Monberg,Coleman K. Obasaju,Roy S. Herbst,Silvia Novello,G.V. Scagliotti +8 more
TL;DR: It is shown that overexpression of TS correlates with reduced sensitivity to P in antifolate- resistant cell lines and a planned subset analysis of a phase 3 trial (Sca...
