We obtained continuous wave mode-locked Nd-GdVO4-KTP laser with a SESAM. This is the first report of CW mode-locked Nd GdVO4-KTP laser with a SESAM to our knowledge. 396mw CW mode-locked pulse is achieved at the incident power of 7.653 W, with the repetition about 95 MHz. 532 nm continuous wave mode-locked Nd:GdVO4 laser with SESAM

Using V:YAG as the saturable absorber, a diode-pumped passively Q-switched and mode-locked Nd:GdVO(4) laser at 1.34 microm is realized. Nearly 100% modulation depth of mode-locking has been achieved. The width of the mode-locked pulse is estimated to be less than 460 ps with 125 MHz repetition rate within an about 1 micros-long Q-switched pulse envelope. A maximum output power of 220 mW and Q-switched pulse energy of 10.5 microJ is obtained. Using the hyperbolic secant function methods, a fluctuation rate equation model considering the Gaussian distribution of the intracavity photon density and the population inversion in the gain medium as well as the ground-state population intensity of the saturable absorber has been proposed to describe the mode-locking process of diode-pumped Nd:GdVO(4)/V(3+):YAG laser. With the space-dependent rate equations solved numerically, the theoretical calculations reproduce the laser characteristics well.

By using a plano-concave cavity, a compact and efficient diode-end-pumped acousto-optic (AO) Q-switched intracavity frequency-doubled Nd:GdVO4/LBO red laser was demonstrated. Under the incident pump power of 9.2 W, the maximum output power at 671 nm was obtained to be 1.36 W at repetition frequency of 15 kHz, with the corresponding optical-optical conversion efficiency of 14.8%. And the shortest pulse width at 671 nm was obtained to be 28 ns at the repetition frequency of 5 kHz. The dependence of the operational parameters on the pump power was also investigated experimentally.

Efficient and compact diode-pumped Q-switched Nd:GdVO4/LBO red laser

A diode-pumped passively Q-switching mode-locked Nd:Gd0.5Y0.5VO4 laser at 1.34 μm using V3+:YAG as the saturable absorber has been demonstrated for the first time to the best of our knowledge. At the pump power of 7 W, the maximum average output power of 0.83 W and Q-switched pulse repetition rate of 140 kHz were obtained with absorber's initial transmission of 96%, with the corresponding Q-switched pulse energy estimated to be 6 μJ. The duration of mode-locked pulse within Q-switched envelop was estimated to be 750 ps with 333.3 MHz repetition rate.

Diode-pumped passively Q-switching mode-locked Nd:Gd 0.5 Y 0.5 VO 4 /V 3+ :YAG laser at 1.34 μm

A quasi-continuously pumped picosecond oscillator-amplifier Nd:GdVO4 laser system based on two identical slabs in a single bounce geometry is reported. Pulse duration is from 160 to 55 ps resulting from the pulse shortening along the extended mode locked train from passively mode locked oscillator, which was measured directly from a single laser shot. The shortest 55 ps long cavity dumped single pulses from the oscillator with the energy of 15±1 μJ and the contrast better than 10-3 were amplified to the energy of 150 μJ with the contrast better than 10-3 after the single-pass amplification and to the energy of 400 μJ after the double-pass amplification.

0.4 mJ quasi-continuously pumped picosecond Nd:GdVO4 laser with selectable pulse duration

By using a new saturable absorber V3+:YAG, a flash-lamp-pumped passively Q-switched Nd:GdVO4 laser at 1.34 μm has been realized. Both a-cut and c-cut Nd:GdVO4 crystals are used. The output single-pulse energy and the pulse width versus the pump energy for different initial transmissions of V3+:YAG saturable absorbers are measured. The experimental results show that, c-cut Nd:GdVO4 laser can generate the shorter pulse width and higher energy in comparison to a-cut one.
