Patterns of insecticide resistance in onion thrips (Thysanoptera: Thripidae) in onion fields in New York.
TL;DR: This finding suggests that resistance had not developed and that variation in control may have been due to other factors, such as localized higher populations, poor spray coverage, too much time between spray applications, or different onion varieties.

Effect of kaolin particle film on Thrips tabaci (Thysanoptera: Thripidae), oviposition, feeding and development on onions: A lab and field case study
TL;DR: The results indicate the potential of kaolin particle film against onion thrips in an integrated pest management program, however, because of the importance of a continuous coverage of plant material with kaolin particles, better application methods and perhaps frequent applications will be required to cover newly expanding foliage.

Overwintering Locations and Hosts for Onion Thrips (Thysanoptera: Thripidae) in the Onion Cropping Ecosystem in New York
TL;DR: It is indicated that onion thrips adults overwinter in the soil within and near onion fields and that they probably colonize volunteer onion plants before subsequent generations infest the onion crop in the spring.

Advances in Control of Onion Thrips (Thysanoptera: Thripidae) in Cabbage
TL;DR: Increased emphasis should be placed on breeding cabbages to be resistant to T. tabaci as the foundation for its management, and insecticides that performed better than the industry standard, lambda-cyhalothrin are identified.

- 01 Jan 2003
TL;DR: The primary goals of the overall project were to monitor thrips susceptibility to Warrior, Lannate and Penncap-M in commercial onion fields in upstate NY using TIBS and work with extension educators and one private sector company to educate their personnel to use TIBS.
