ICF target diagnostics on PBFA II (invited)
Gordon A. Chandler,J. Aubert,James E. Bailey,A. L. Carlson,D. Derzon,Mark S. Derzon,R. J. Dukart,R. Humphreys,J. Hunter,D. J. Johnson,Maurice Keith Matzen,A. R. Moats,R. E. Olson,J. Pantuso,P. Rockett,Chimpén Ruiz,P. Sawyer,Jose A. Torres,Thomas W. Hussey +18 more
TL;DR: Particle Beam Fusion Accelerator II as discussed by the authors is a light-ion fusion accelerator that is presently capable of irradiating a 6mm-diam sphere with ∼50 kJ of 5.5MeV protons in ∼15 ns.

Geant4 simulations of x-ray photon pileup produced by runaway electrons in streamer discharges
TL;DR: In this paper , the authors simulate photon pileup in a detector next to a spark gap and compare laboratory measurements to ensembles of monoenergetic electron beam simulations performed with Geant4 (using the Monte Carlo method).

Comparison of experimental results and calculated detector responses for PBFA II thermal source experiments
Mark S. Derzon,J. Aubert,James E. Bailey,A. L. Carlson,Gordon A. Chandler,D. Derzon,R. J. Dukart,R. Humphreys,J. Hunter,Duane D. Johnson,K. Matzern,P. Mix,A. R. Moats,R. E. Olson,J. Pantuso,P. Rockett,Chimpén Ruiz,P. Sawyer,Jose A. Torres,Thomas W. Hussey +19 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors performed experiments using proton beams to heat foam-filled cylinders on the Particle Beam Fusion Acceleration II (PBF II), and the results of broadband spectral measurements on bolometers and xray diodes provided qualitative agreement with LASNEX predictions of target features such as Au motion and soft x-ray emission profile, consistent with a total beam deposition of 40-50 kJ and power depositions of approximately 180 TW/g.
