TL;DR: PICOSEC as mentioned in this paper is based on a two-stage Micromegas detector coupled to a Cherenkov radiator and equipped with a photocathode, which yields a time resolution of 24 ps for 150 GeV muons, and 76 ps for single photoelectrons.

Veenhof,Xin Wang,Sebastian N. White,Zhiyong Zhang,Y. Zhou +40 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a phenomenological model is constructed and presented to gain insight on the main physical mechanisms causing the observed behavior of PICOSEC Micromegas detector, which is based on a simple mechanism of "time gain per interaction" and employs a statistical description of the avalanche evolution.
